Academic Journals - Fake Paper Hoax

One paper was a rewrite of a chapter of Mein Kampf. As a freshman at UT I rewrote The Lottery in a satirical way using junkies, pimps, and prostitutes as my characters. Professor said it was the most original story she had ever read.................Most surprising A I ever received. Thats when I realized there was a lot of misinformation and ignorance in "higher education".

So the take away i get from this is what exactly do campus professors think the term “critical thinking” really means.

And this is why I laugh at people when they tout peer reviewed academic research as being absolute fact and not supporting some agenda.

Who does this? You don't need extreme cases like this to validate the idea that conclusions from academic papers are rarely "absolute fact".

The fact that you fooled your teacher into thinking your work was original isn't evidence of misinformation and ignorance in higher education. If you changed the tone and the characters, that would give a story significant originality, even if the rest is ripped off. Consider that basically the same 7 stories are written over and over.

I had to do a poem in sophomore English and the teacher just savaged me on it. She said she would give me one more chance. She had mentioned once that she never listened to country music so I just wrote The River by Garth Brooks word for word. She gave me an A and said it was good enough to be a song lol.

Not much different than you taking everything posted by Reason.com as gospel. Hell, you can’t even have an opinion until you read what they say.

My roommate had to face a disciplinary board because he submitted the same work in two different classes. They don't mess around and technology allows them to catch a lot more of this stuff.

Was it his original work?

It literally was the lottery..exactly..different names, different occupations, different reason for
annual human sacrifice

It absolutely was a sign. I wont even go into peer reviewing work. Thats a joke half the time.

I submitted my own research papers multiple times for my bachelors and graduate degrees multiple times. I of course editing them slightly. No reason to write different papers for finance classes in business then management.

My thesis work was always different..those were kind of a pain in the ass to just pass off twice.

If the expectation was that they be different then there's every reason in the world to write different papers. Just because you can get away with it is no reason to do it (or to have done it).

Unfortunately, more students think like you than don't.
