you know it's kind of funny looking at these two conferences...both, now, have traditional powers, a second tier and the bottom feeders....

i just got thinking...and if i'm looking at the ACC as a bizzaro world of the SEC...here's how i see it:

Vandy/Duke....no need to explain this one
MS/UNC...uppity, preppy, go nowhere football programs
MSU/NCSU...serious chips on their shoulders b/c of in state rivals
VT/LSU...good teams, great atmospheres...but usually come up short...both capable of doing great things at times
GT/Aub...tradition, neither real dominant, but both are always decent teams capable of big time results...sporadic history.
WF/KY...both generally treated as doormats, but always play the big boys tougher than expected.
Clemson/Bama...both hold on to history way too hard. Both tradition rich with iconic former head coaches knowns for winning and having deep pockets.
BC/ARK...ARK has more tradition, but in recent history, neither is ever a gimmie...generally both strong second tier teams in the new confs. they play in. No one really just hates either of them.
UF/FSU...the North FL connection...both dominant in their conference in the 90's.
GA/MD...GA has the upper hand here, but are two teams that have been thorns in the side of the recent traditional powers in their conferences and won the conf. when each league was down.
SC/UVA...both think they are better than they are
TN/MIA...hm? they were just the two left. both traditional powers nationally. Both have coaches that have been considered lame duck of late. both have had seasons of late that were not up to par of late. both trying to get back to respectability. both have been blown out in Peach bowls of late.

Uh, LSU has won multiple National Titles. Exactly what has Va. Tech won?

Nothing...but neither team is what i would call dominant...and both are generally good teams capable of doing more. and up until recently, both were generally very well coached. the atmospheres in Blacksburg and Baton rouge are compareable, considering Blacksburg's status in the ACC compared to the rest of the ACC. Most would tell you that the best atmosphere in the ACC is between VT and Clemson..with probalby FSU third. Baton rouge is generally considered a top 2 or 3 venue in the SEC...but traditionally, yes, i'd give the edge to LSU.
