Yes, the guy telling fans how to fan is back. As fans, we talk about accountability for the coaching staff and players a lot—and rightfully so—but when does accountability come back to Vol Nation?

Are we automatically exempt? Are people just that committed to complaining? Before all the free speech activists jump in to claim their right to complain about bad things happening to a football team, let me clarify: I’m not attacking your freedom of speech. And before the “fans have no effect on the team” or “if fans have that much of an effect, it was going to happen anyway” crowd shows up, let me remind you: our fan base brags about stopping a coaching hire and getting an AD fired. Starting an entire movement to cancel Vol Club subscriptions probably doesn’t help your case either.

The Ohio State game wasn’t good—I understand that. But this is getting ridiculous. Losing receivers who had little to no playing time is absolutely not a justification for all this nonsense. Even if they’re disgruntled, they did not play. Rumors started by rival fan bases are being echoed by our own, only fanning the flames.

I’m not saying this from some morally superior standpoint—I just want Tennessee to be a good football team. And as much as people like to lie to themselves, these actions do not help. They do hurt, though. Nothing good comes out of this for our football program.
