Adam Jones cleared to play --- until he blew it

Adam Jones knows he HAS to keep his head together. He's got no money. When he gets a big payday, the old Punkman will make a comeback.

I'm happy for Pacman. Don't understand why my Titans would let him leave knowing that he was going to play regardless, why not play for us? Sucks that my favorite player plays for the Cowboys.

anyone else think PacMan would still be suspended if he was with any other team?

no. you have to admit he's managed to keep a pretty low profile in the last year and a half. in my opinion he's earned the right to play again, under the condition that his next mistake will be his last.

No, because 1) Fisher wanted to distance the distraction of him from the team

and 2) every nfl team gets rid of their suspended players more now b/c they're afraid goodell is going to use them as his punishment example for team conduct or w/e that thing is he still hasn't done to the bengals

why should the Bengals be held responsible?

last i checked, they were running a football organization and not a day care service.

The Bengals did re-sign Chris Henry despite his history, but Goodell has said he will fine teams for player misconduct.

Good thing for Pacman that there are not a lot of strip clubs around Dallas...wait.

maybe it is the Redskins fan in me, but I disagree. He was never given any openings until he was traded to Dallas, "America's Team". I'm with OWB (who, yes, is also a Redskins fan), anything for the Cowpies.

his penalty was to sit the whole year. he was told that if he behaved the commissioner would revisit his case the following year.

he did everything he was asked by Goodell. time to let him play.

I never said it was their fault, but Goodell's been holding this "holding the team responsible" punishment thing over the league's head for a while now. He said back when he suspended jones that if a team kept having bad behavior, he was going to fine them and take away draft picks. Of course at this point it's all a bluff, because like everything else i think if he does any discipline i think he tries to make a big example and hope that it doesnt happen again. The bengals have been the team most mentioned of something like this happening b/c of the repeated arrests and such, and they just resigned someone who they cut for being in trouble.

I honestly dont like goodell for a lot of his policies...

I see no consistency in his punishments: jones a year, then however henry who was convicted in court of more only 8 weeks and tank 8 as well, and then he dragged his feet on vick as long as he possibly could; if I'm right he still never suspended him, he just waited till the falcons did it for him.

Then there was the whole clearing the patriots thing (he destroyed their tapes for crying out loud),

siding with the owners on the CBA (the side we all know wont step down on their "profit-loss" argument and the NFLPA is too weak to do anything about it anyways so now the league may fold in in 3 years),

he has a problem of siding with the bigger money makers on issues (getting favre back; siding with vick as long as possible)

shortening the draft (which really wasn't a big deal, but I enjoyed watching it all weekend :)),

and he took the time to hire people to watch nfl players for gang signs of all things

And again he's been holding that draft pick loss over the teams for a while now, so I imagine if he does it to anyone, it will be the bengals...just to set as an example
I just don't think he's a very good commissioner at all.

Sorry for all that typing, I had to get all that off my chest

Just heard this morning though that he is in favor of shortening the pre-season and possibly lengthening the regular season.

That's been talked about the last two years. Last I heard was playing only 3 preseason games and adding a 17th regular season game.

Sorry, it just seems to me that most of the stuff goodell does is pretty well pointless. Outside of suspending pacman, he hasnt done one thing that's been worthwhile for the league.

Thread's about pacman though. He didnt really have a great opening game did he? Dont think he did much and he almost fumbled one of those punt returns when i was watching

I'm all for shortening the preseason a game, but not really sold on how they could play the 17th regular season game.

yeah, i dont see why an extra regular season game unless you dont like people having 8-8 seasons or something

I can understand the argument for less preseason games, but at the same time too its those games that get the bad out so that nfl week 1 is still pretty good, as opposed to how teams often play in college week one
