Another Vol faces NCAA Clearinghouse issues - Nashville, Tennessee - Saturday, 08/26/06 - Tennessean.com

He was pulled with Clearinhouse issues.

That makes 8 from last years class.

Pope, Williams, Raines, Lindsey, Vinson, Garrett, Smith, Garretson.

There was a list somewhere (that I can't find now) that showed each of the top schools and how many players from last years class had issues. Needless to say, I think we would rank pretty high with 8.

yeah, but aren't Lindsey and Vinson rejoining the team after this year? I know Vinson went to Hartgrave Mil. School and Lindsey went to a Community College because of their grades, but they didn't get "thrown off the team":ermm:

I think the plan is obviously for them to rejoin the team but there are no guarantees.

The point wasn't that they all got thrown off, just how many didn't make the team for various reason.

Good to see that TCHFCATUTK really did his homework on the academics of the individuals he recruited. This is the recruiting equivalent of losing to Vanderbilt on the field. Oh, I forgot, we did that as well.

are all the schools having trouble like this? This is unbelievable what these guys have to go through to get in. I hate the NCAA

Well, sweetie, it IS a COLLEGE team and as such, there has to be academic standards. Otherwise it would just be the NFL.

it just seems that they go out of their way to deny some of these guys....I say let them in and see if they sink or swim, if they cant go to class or pass then they'll drop out anyway, so let 'em in

Nope . . . that's what they make Arena Football for.

I hope Pope gets in. He could be a stud in a couple years and may be hard to reland considering USC offered him late in the process and may be hard to sway against that now.

I wouldn't fault CPF too much on this one. UGA loses all kinds of kids to academics every year and we usually don't lose many though this year was pretty bad.

this recruiting class hasn't faired that well so far. I think 8 out of 20 recruits havent made it past the clearing house.

i understand some guys not getting in due to academics but guys like Gerald Williams who have done everything in their control to play should be allowed to play

8? I don't think 8 have had problems with the clearinghouse. Garrett(his fault), Vinson(his fault), Lindsey(his fault), Raines(his teacher's fault), Williams(the clearinghouse), and Pope(the clearinghouse) are the only 6 I can think of. Smith was kicked off as was Garretson.

UTC has also had some problems with the clearinghouse and still have Feagler awaiting word on eligibility.

I just saw today where the NCAA granted Feagler a waiver to practice because of the backup at the ClearingHouse. Do you think that Raines, Pope, and Williams have a chance at this also?
