Patrick Toole (RS soph from Wallkill, NY) is a transfer from Temple, where he walked on in 2011 but didn't play due to a badly broken ankle suffered in an all-star game. He was named the offensive MVP for that game after hitting FGs of 43 & 47 yards.

During the Field Goal portion of the competition Patrick Toole (Wallkill Senior HS, NY) impressed with his
accuracy, smooth technique and consistent ball flight kicking off the ground and going 8 for 10.

National Camp Series: National Camp Series- Long Island, New York - July 23, 2010

If Toole has corrected his apparent tendency to kick low, he could be a contributor next fall. His senior numbers @ Wallkill: Converted 38-of-42 extra points (three blocked, one missed) and was 7-of-15 on FGs. Longest FG 47 yards, missed four from over 52 yards and had two blocked. Also carried a 37.9 punting average and had touchbacks on 39 kickoffs.

Toole withdrew from Temple over the summer and has spent the last few months training in Buffalo with Tanalski, a former preseason kicker with the Bills and Redskins who also works with Wallkill kicker Matt Iorlano and Cornwall's Damon Neil. Tanalski said he sent video of Toole to Tennessee director of football operations Scott Altizer. Kansas had also been recruiting Toole.

..."I think Pat will be the kicker at Tennessee from Day 1," Tanalski said. "It's amazing that things didn't work out for him at Temple. I think he will be one of the top kickers in the SEC."

I couldn't help but notice the quote "if Toole has corrected apparent tendency to kick low." Not another kick into the belly of Mount Cody, please.

This made me cringe. I still have flashbacks of Linclon kicking his snapper in the butt and Mt. Lard arse blocking the kick with his arm pit.

Take 20 kickers don't care as long as they're walk-ons. Like not giving out Scholly's but make them earn it.

Got to like it. Get some competition in here and the best man wins the job. The kicking game, or lack thereof, has been bizzarre around here for too long.Tennessee football has good kicking as a tradition.

Like study groups, the more the merrier. One of the best kickers in the nation last year was a freshman at TCU.

If he tends to kick it low, then make him a kick-off specialist. Kick every one out of the end zone!

So nice to see butch jones recognizing our teams biggest weakness and how many games its cost us over the last few years and actually doing something about it.

With all the kickers and punters, maybe it would be a good idea to split up their responsibilities so they can specialize in one area. Maybe this guy or Palardy for kickoffs, couple other guys for XPs, and a others for punts. Couldn't hurt.

This tells me he's serious about special teams play. Nice to see.
