Can anyone provide actual links detailing the academic differences between UT and the rest of the SEC? We've been talking about the standards and how we are hamstrung by our administration, just wanted to see it on paper...

I don't believe it's so much about getting into school as staying in school. Some programs, such as Urban Studies, have been removed from the curriculum. I can't remember us not being able to get a player in that would get in at another SEC school. I do however remember Omari Phillips not being eligible at UF but got in here.

The academic issue is not admission standards. That is a smokescreen. Instead, it's what happens after our players are admitted. We have the lowest APR - Academic Progress Rate - in the SEC. Our APR is 931. "Teams scoring below 930 out of 1,000 can face penalties, such as scholarship reductions and restrictions on practice and competition." That is our academic issue, not admissions standards. One might even argue for higher admissions standards in order to get a better student and have a better chance to get the APR up. However, I think we can make the current admission standards work with program stability (Kiffin ran off a bunch of guys, resulting in a lower APR) and stronger academic support for the players. Unfortunately, the firing of Dooley may further stress/lower our APR, since some players will probably choose to leave early or transfer.
