after the game that Tennessee "has a star in Coach Martin."

I sure hope he's right.

Tend to think Adrian Branch is right. Good start to the new year. Getting Stokes and beating UF in the first SEC game is pretty sweet. Most importantly they played as a unit today. Everybody did what they have been coached up to do.

I can honestly say this team plays with more intensity and discipline than the last several pearl teams

Not wanting to turn this into a Pearl -vs- CCM thread but CCM D >>>>>> Pearl D all day.

If he's made this much progress on defense in the short amount of time, we should all be pretty thrilled. With the amount of players returning next season, consistancy will become the norm.

I think today is the kind of defense you are going to see in the future from Coach Martin teams.

We didn't pay enough for him.
Can't be that good.

As I have said all along, we are fortunate to have hired CCM as our coach. THis guy has character, integrity, knows what it's like to have nothing (as a kid growing up), played college BB at a high level (Purdue), played in the NBA. I have been so sick of some fans responses on here about CCM when we have lost some games. He did not inherit alot of talent and will need time to build HIS program here. I hope when we lose again (which will probably be THursday at Miss. St.), the same moronic fans don't start back with their negativity about CCM.

May as well just prepare for them. There's no stopping it.

Where's the guys that said we needed to fire him after the Memphis game. I think Martin will be a good coach for us in the years to come. Defense wins championships

:clapping: I really enjoyed the comments from A Branch after the game. Give coach Zo some time to implement his system and get the players to buy in and we will be fine. The players really played "Great" on "D" today caught the Gators napping I guess.

I'm sick of fans who think it's moronic to criticize CCM and the team when they play horrible. Yes some people do go overboard but there is absolutely nothing wrong with criticism when it's warranted? How could anyone watch the Memphis game and not think that was a horrible defensive effort? A forum like this is not for blowing smoke up everyone's arse.

His comment was:
"We beat a paper dragon."
Wouldn't have expected anything else.
Nature of the beast.

I never left the Martin bandwagon. I'll stay on it until after the 2012-2013 season, then we'll find out if he's a bust.

Criticism and concerns are fine when making valid and good points. But, moronic is when everytime a game is loss someone gets on the forum and just spews crap. Such as fire the coach and he sucks and we all suck. We hired an idiot ect. That is just spewing crap and is moronic. Valid criticism is not. However, let the body of work play out for a year or so before firing the coach everytime they lose a game.

Actually I've always been able to distinguish between the two and spend very little if any time on the moronic stuff...and of course name recognition allows me to pass on and read something that is well thought out and informative whether its criticism or praise....of course there's always that possibility that the MORON poster might occasionally say something relative but alas I shall miss it....it goes with this approach...

Thank you Jacket Vol . I have no problem with "constructive" criticism, it's all the "doom and gloom, fire the coach, we suck" comments that are moronic just because we lose or play poorly. It gets old....
