Bang Shift : : Breaking News: ADRL Announces SuperCar Showdown Class - Pro Stock Rebirth Begins!

The NHRA Pro Stock class began in 1970 under similar auspices as this ADRL category. It was a way to unleash the true potential in combinations that the major manufacturers were offering (in different forms) to the general public. Like in today’s world, a guy could not walk into a Chevy dealer and buy a Camaro that ran as hard as Grumpy Jenkins’ machine, but he damn well could buy a big block Camaro with a four speed and act like da Grump at every stoplight. The same DIRECT comparison can be made to the guy who sees Carl Tasca haul ass in his Cobra Jet and gets inspired to waltz into a Ford dealer and buy himself a Mustang GT. This is a big deal and it is hella cool that the ADRL is leading the way on it and that some thought by guys who have spent their lives in this sport went into developing the idea.

why would you go to an ADRL event to see something you can see at your local track. Bad move, ADRL is grasping at straws. Since KK left, that series is heading for the exits at an alarming pace.

....yeah, but this is a straw I like and it's not like I wasn't going to the track anyway.

I would rather see these cars race than the NHRA Pro Stock. Reminds me of the old Super Stock or AFX classes of the '60s. They were immensely popular.

you do know that you wont be gettin in for free anymore, right?

LOL. ....yeah, kinda hard to believe that would go on forever. gotta support the home track.

I love the idea behind this and as Randy stated above, NHRA Pro Stock is beyond stale. ...and if this is successful perhaps NHRA will copy it and shelve those boats they call door slammers.

I used to go to several ADRL events a year. I am good friends with Kenny Knowling, since he is gone it has gone to **** in one year. I went to the Houston event last year and it was ****, I wont be going back. I will continue to go to the NHRA events that have pro mods, they are the best class anyways.
