i'm not even going to discuss the AFC West, cause it's sort of a mess, but DEN or SD is going to win that division, and i doubt very seriously that a WC gets in from that division. NE has wrapped up the East and Buf is the only team with a prayer of a WC and those chances are slim.

for all intents and purposes, as of today, the AFC playoff picture is wrapped around what happens in the AFC North and South the next 3 weeks.

IND and PIT are the division leaders, IND will most likely wrap up the south and win that to be the #2 seed. the Titans and Jags are battling for a WC. Pit and Cle are now battling for hte division with the Steelers holding a 1 game lead in the north, and Cle in as of now as a WC.

knowing all of this here's the remaining schedule for each and their current record......

CLE--BUF, CIN, SF (8-5)
JAX--PIT, OAK, HOU (9-4)
TN--KC, NYJ, IND (7-6)
PIT--JAX, STL, BAL (9-4)

CLE can definitely win their remaining games and go 11-5.

JAX has one real toughie left in PIT, but they have beaten PIT 3-4 straight, and it's in JAX, assume they beat pit, they should win out and go 12-4.

TN is probably going to win 2 of 3 and finish 9-7

PIT, lose to JAX, and win the other two and finish 11-5.

Pit wins the division because they beat CLE twice.
CLE is in as a WC and JAX is in as a 12-4 WC. TN is out.

i think TN needs too much to happen around them for htem to control their own destiny. they need to CLE to lose 2 of 3 and they have to win out. or they need to win out and JAX to lose all three, i don't see either of those happening.

1 & 2 are NE and IND, Pit and DEN/SD win the West and North, and CLE and JAX are the wc's.

or JAX. i'm not real confident about playing them next week down there. historically, we've not done well against them. they have a def. line that will give our off. line fits.

The AFC could almost be considered irrelevant with what the Pats are doing. But that's why they play the games. A Pats loss in the playoffs would be a monumental upset.

agreed, and the only team that beats the Patriots are the Patriots.

If the pats are going to lose though, I think it has to come from an AFC team. I know Dallas and GB look good, but the top teams in the AFC are head and shoulders above everyone in the NFC. The Super Bowl has a certain Redskins-Broncos look to it if the Pats make it.

Did you see the stat of NFL scoring drives when starting inside your own 20? The Pats are 1st in the league at around 66%, second place in the league is at around 20%. Un-freaking-real.

I think Dallas has a real shot at beating NE if they met again in Glendale.

I don't think they have a prayer. I think the best chance the NFC has is the Packers. Brady vs Favre gunslinging out to a 49-45 duel. First team that has to settle for a FG loses.

Edit: or throws a pick. That could be Favre's downfall.

Look how good Brett fared against Dallas. He was totally forcing things...exactly what he would do against NE.

He wouldn't just throw one pick, try 3.

I'm just saying I think that is the best chance. Obviously if Bad Favre plays that day, it's over.

I'd love to draw Cleveland - if the Titan's had their schedule they'd be sitting pretty at about 10-3 right now.

It always hurts to be in the division with the super bowl champions since they have to have the #1 toughest schedule the following year. That means everyone in your division is close to #2-6ish.

Cleveland is just the FoTM right now and won't make much noise.

And if Good Favre plays.......

GB still probably loses.

But I'll never bet against Favre when nobody is expecting him to win

agree on all points. I just don't think Romo and Co. are ready for the big lights of the Super Bowl. Especially against these Pats.

Aside from Favre, GB is a lot greener than Dallas, pun intended.

From the coach, to the backfield, to the receivers, to the tight ends, to the D line, to the LBs, to the defensive backfield.

That and Dallas also wins in terms of talent in those areas.

you mean 49ers Broncos.

and Dallas can hang if they don't turn the ball over. Dallas is good.

which is why i wasn't shocked at all to see them roll 99 yards to score. and they didn't run the ball at all. Welker had 5 straight catches for like 60 yards.

their offense is ridicuolous.

Pit owns the tie breaker over the Browns so that division is all but over.
i believe that was stated in the original post.

A colts victory over the pats would be an upset, but not monumental.

A guarantee the Bengals will beat the Browns in Cincy on December 23rd.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Carry on.
