Academy guys tend be given a good bit of leeway if they get picked up. David Robinson was excused of three years, having to only serve two years of his commitment before playing pro ball. Generally the time is made up with reserve duty, recruiting, promotionals, etc.

This is generally wrong. Last guy drafted was a safety from Army and he was told to report to OBC like everyone else.

I'm not saying you don't have to serve. There's a reason Robinson made it to jg and wasn't just a commissioned ensign. It all depends on how best they see fit to use you. Staubach was a 27 year old rookie when he made the league. I will agree that Robinson was a general exception. So yes, the Air Force player can be drafted, but it is unlikely he will be playing in the NFL next year.

My apologies if I went about this in a roundabout way.

Ridiculous with Nevis and Fairley. ALs inside linebackers, along with Sheppard are as good as any. No UF DBs and only Ziemba on OL.
