After a knee jerk reaction that nearly broke my jaw, I have settled back down to earth. No, the press conference didn't win me over, but rarely does any press conference where the coach is obviously going to say the right things (i.e. Clawson getting the ball to playmakers in space, Kiffin saying he wanted to settle down here for a long time). The thing that has settled me down, based on his track record, is the fact that I know Coach Martin will bring toughness and discipline to a team that is lacking in both. Whether we win some or lose some, Coach Martin will put together a foundation that either he will steadily build on, or our next coach can build off of. Here's hoping for the best. Go Vols.

I think they have found an up and comer.

A winner is a winner no matter where it occured. He won at Purdue as a player and an assistant coach. He won at Missouri State. He beat cancer. The guy gets it done.

Yeah, we could get some coach who had a 73-59 record at a non-basketball school and never went to the NCAA and only once to the NIT in 5 years and didn't even make an NCAA appearance until his 4th year at a major school....oh wait, that was Mike Krzyzewski. Let's give Coach Martin a chance and see what he can do. Go get 'em Coach Martin and Go Vols!

Good take. Let's give this guy a chance. I think he will win big here, I really do. It will be a nice to see a disciplined team that limits turnovers, rebounds (def), and plays solid defense.

I think many people will eventually come around. Personally, I am very glad to have a guy that will be here long term if successful.
