Looks like another Will Smith bomb, as well as yet another bomb for M. Night Shyamalan. Man that guy has just gone downhill fast after The Village was met with a "meh" response, though personally I thought Signs was kind of weak too.

Will Smith is one of my 3 favorite actors, but i don't think this looks good either, i don't plan on seeing it

I'll probably catch it on Netflix or Redbox, but the trailers looked terrible to me.

I am somewhat interested in it, but cannot decided if it will bomb or not. Probably just wait till it comes out on Redbox.

Apparently the movie is a vehicle for Scientology just as Battlefield Earth was. Will Smith has let them take over his life just like Travolta, Cruise, etc....

That must be why on the After Earth IMDB page, in the message board, some were calling it After Battlefield Earth.

I don't like Will Smith trying to make his son a star. The kid ain't an actor. Quit shoving him in our face. Will needs another great action flick I like him as an actor.

The sad part is I didn't think the new Karate Kid was that bad. Then again, not much with Jackie Chan is bad. but I agree, the kid is not an actor. He's not a musician. He is not his father in any way. The reason will smith was so liked is because he exploded with just the right tv show at just the right time, and followed it with a string of flawless movies for 90's America.

It's time he stops trying to pimp his kids and instead tries to win an award for a great movie role.

Couldn't agree more. I have always liked Will Smith, but every time he does this with his kids, I like him a little less. Very irritating.

I hope not for this acting skills, but I can understand if you are talking about likability.

I heard Howard Stern deconstruct an interview Will Smith and his wife had with Oprah. It ruined any likability I had for Will Smith, because he is an idiot.

Also he turned down Django for this.

He turned down Neo in The Matrix for Wild Wild West too, 2 bad business decisions lol. I like him as an actor though.

To be fair, nobody thought The Matrix would make the money it did...

Django though, that was obvious. had he chosen it, Tarantino would've waited on him hand and foot basically.

Don't have too much to add to what others have already said in this thread. Based on the previews it sure seems like his kid is the star of this show with Will talking in his head in an ear piece. Sure does seem like he is deliberately letting/making his son ride on his coattails. I hadn't paid much attention to Will's attitude until I heard the story about his ginormous trailers parked on the street in NY.

I'd almost predict a serious rebellion in the works from this kid.

While I think it ended up doing better than they thought, it also had a pretty good buzz about it before it came out. I think Smith would have been awful for the role. As wooden as Reeves is, I think it was a perfect role for him, as the whole world of the Matrix was kind of emotionless.
