I found very interesting results.

Tennessee (last year and this year) is 26-9 when they shoot LESS THAN 25 three-pointers in a game.

And Tennessee is 7-6 when they shoot 25 OR MORE three-pointers in a game.

(It should also be noted that in 5 of the losses when they shoot less than 25 three-pointers, they shot more than 20 three-pointers).

The solution is simple, and this is what makes this team so frustrating. WE NEED TO NOT SHOOT SO MANY THREES! Look at what they did tonight when they drove to the basket and executed well on offense!!

Yet, it seems every 3rd game, they become extremely lazy and refuse to execute their offense. And instead, just play catch on the perimeter, then chuck up a 3 with 2 seconds left on the shot clock.

Let's hope this team has finally realized that needs to stop. Why hasn't Bruce been able to enforce this?

Sorry to have a negative thread on such a great day. It's just so frustrating to watch sometimes! With that out of my system, I must congratulate the Vols on one of the best wins under Pearl! Todays was a perfect example of what they need to do to be successful: play great defense, and DRIVE TO THE HOOP! Way to go, walk-ons!

Hopson played like an NBAer today, esp when JP and Wayne were out... Maybe this extra PT is just what he and RW needed..

I agree on seeing the dunk again...I came out of my chair when he did that...He has the ability to do that every time he touches the ball and I think Hopson grew up a little tonight...He really showed me that if he wants to get to the basket he can get there...Maze, Woolridge, Chism were all big contributors but the key tonight was.. JP PRINCE...
His defense was the best I have seen in him and everytime KU would make a run JP would get a steal and we would get an easy bucket...I mean he had back to back plays in the first half were he caused 2 quick turnovers, then just ran right up and picked Colins pocket...he played great...and you gotta admit that you felt it deep down in your heart when Sweet Tea Mcbee hit that leaning 3 pointer falling away from the basket...TBA erupted and I did too....
Great win and it just shows what heart and determination can do...

they shoot that many 3's cuz they aren't disciplined. why aren't they disciplined?

jacking up 3's is lazy basketball.

but when they go in... you look awesome. and people think your coach out-coached the other guy.

That's exactly what it is, it's lazy basketball. They choose not to execute and instead just jack up threes every once in a while. We got away with it in the past because we had Lofton and Smith. But now, it doesn't work.

If they had their heads screwed on straight, and gave 100% every night, we'd be an elite team. Let's hope it happens as the season goes on.

even with tyler... and us playing with 100% EFFORT, FOCUS, and DISCPLINE... i don't think we have enough talent to be a final 4 or elite 8 team.

BUT.... watching the team play is much more satisfying when the EFFORT is there....

AND... gives me hope that when there is enough talent we can get there.

if pearl is such a great motivator... why does it take 3 guys getting suspended and 1 guy getting dismissed from school to get the best effort this group of guys has put out in 2 seasons????

that question should be a new thread.

Thanks Krab. We've all noticed that you rarely win if you just jack 3's all night, but I hadn't seen the number to prove it before.
