TFL- Tenn-29

None of this means much. I just doubt they're gonna roll us.

I wouldn't call them similar opponents. If Oklahoma has played cupcakes so far, UT has been left with fruit cakes.

ESPNU just said we lose, but OU probably isn't going to roll us, and we all know ESPN hates us.

I have a feeling we have a fighting chance on Saturday.

I don't know how to factor in the inexperience of the o-line. They didn't show well against ArkSt who has had the benefit of some coaching with SEC experience. They threw lots of stunts at a young line. OU will likely present the same problem with better talent. The o-line will be the key. The most progress usually comes between the 1st and 2nd games. That may explain why there appeared to be so little progress for our o-line. I think they improved more than it might have seemed. They are not there yet but are headed there.

We need OU to beat themselves a little. A couple turnovers and penalties would make this thing close in a hurry. If they play a clean game I just don't think we match up for 4 quarters, not yet anyway.

Our opponents have been much better than theirs. It doesn't really matter though.

We need a few turnovers... Short Field and for North to have a dominate preformance

North is going to be North I think. I never worry about him. I will be looking more closely at who else can step up as pass catchers. Especially with Von out. Smith has looked great so far. Who else? Malone, Croom, Helm? Hope so

Here's the problem:
Total Offense
OK - 29
TN - 81

I don't see this as a problem . Tennessee has played two tougher opponents defensively than Oklahoma has. If based on these rankings Defensively and Offensively, looks like two evenly matched teams to me.

the OL failure will cause the entire offense to fail. Receivers can't catch the ball if the QB is on his back with ball still in his hand. No "O" means "D" on field much of the game and they will wear down. This a 3+ touchdown game...IMHO of course.

They don't appear to be some sack machine. And that's playing la tech and Tulsa .

Its hard to tell though because maybe arky st and utah st have better looking numbers on D because we suck on O and we represent half of their stats so far. just like maybe okies two opponents defenses only look bad because theyve both had to play half their games against a damn good offense. its just too early for any stats to really mean much

I haven't watched them play against either team, the lack of a Vols running game is what bothers me the most

that and the hurry up offense, will put the Defense on the field a lot

or has the potential to,getting first downs and controlling the clock,is how UT can pull the upset

so far I don't see that happening from the read option and the lack of a running game

you would think Lane would have gotten more touches on the ball,to see if he could do better than Huird has

that's my 2 cents worth

i think you'll see alot more lane this week. i feel like the first two games they focused on getting hurd as many carries as possiible to get him up to speed since we already know what lane is capable of and hurd is the #2 and had 0 college experience.

Good Point.Well put Sir. I would like to believe that they have better Defense than Tulsa. It just makes me feel better.

i hope you are right, the lack of a running game is spooky as hell,we know that Lane can run the ball, now we will need to see if the Offensive line can open up some holes

the numbers are what they are, but OU's starting defense had given up 33 yards w 2 minutes left in first half, and about that much in the first half against Tulsa. With Starters have probably been best defense in the country. (Yes, I know opponents aren't great).

Lack of tfl's will change, this week, w more blitzing and different looks...have been pretty basic so far.

They shut both their cupcakes down earlier than we did and certainly against ASU which was still scrapping late in the game. Therefore stats may provide a skewed view. Rest assured their starters will be in the whole game against us if we are lucky.

IF these 5 things happen we will be in the game.
1. We win the turn over by ratio 2 to 1
2. If our avreage starting field position is 25 yard line or beyond. No downed punts inside 5 and/or muffed KO returns.
3. if we are at least equal on time of possesion and 1st downs.
4. No missed field goals.
5. No ST giving TD's on punt or KO returns

and thats a big IF.
