Please give a yes or no and your reason for yes or no

I disagree with no offer, sit down or no sit down, I think Hart will make a good hire but at this stage I am a very unhappy UT Fan GBO

Unless there's something I haven't seen, I think a lot of this stems from Gruden's denying the Browns rumor yesterday morning. I guess a lot of people are equating that with denying everything related to the possible UT job, but I think the point has been well made that the Browns rumor specifically was the only thing he denied.

UT KNOWS they can NOT afford his salary for him and all his coaches..period!! he will want total autonomy of the football program with no outside interference and UT just wont give that to him..Hart for one wont want no say in what goes on in football anyhow...so all the Gruden talk should probably end for good now...ive resigned to the fact he wont be the coach at UT next season or any season after that...

He may not end up being the coach for the Vols, but it isn't because money is an issue.

All he confirmed was that he was never offered a piece of the Browns. He never said that he said "no" to the job or that no offer was made.

I disagree. If a coach of that magnitude shows you ANY interest, you go to him, ask him what he wants (in the realm of reality of course) and you offer it to him. Not saying this is dead or even alive at this point, but you really can't afford to squander that opportunity if it presented itself.

Who cares. If Gruden really wanted to be here he would have already signed. I wouldn't mind seeing UT sign Petrino, and pray that he has learned his lessons. Although I wouldn't mind Petrino, I personally think the smartest hire UT could make is McDaniels , the Pats OC. He's young , energetic and passionate about the game. This isn't easily said, I'm a dolphins fan.

Hell, at this point I'd be happy with Coach Fulmer being back. I never agreed with his dismissal in the first place.
Everything that has happened since CF was forced to resign is referred to something the Buddhist call Karma . CF doesn't look so bad now!

My 5 cents anyway.

Gruden said..."I like what I'm doing, and I'm just trying to hang on to the job I have. Let's leave it at that."

From what I understand Gruden wants to wait until the season is over before deciding if he wants to coach NFL or college.

I find it amazing that people are wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth with no clue what is happening behind the scenes. Hamilton turned the last 2 football hires into a media circus each time. Now people expect a media circus! Give it a break and see what really falls out.

I'm beyond over the whole Gruden No Gruden b.s. I for one will believe it when I see it. Until then, I am handing in my Gruden flag.

I give up :(

Butch Jones UT HC.

Sickening, since he LOST to dooley.

Why??? He coaches a mid-level conference with mid-level players and lost to a SEC school. Even UT the last few years is still better than most teams of the weaker conferences. (not always by a lot, ie Troy)

Butch Jones has done well in his peer group, as evidenced by his win-loss record in his conference.

IMO, Gruden would view coaching a college team as a step back. He is a pro coach who has a pretty sweet gig going right now. I am still trying to figure out why so many on this board are in love with him?

i would just like to know what the hell he's been doing. We've known that Dooley was going to be gone since Mizzu. The academics gave him money for a reason and he's going to piss it on a coach like Butch Jones or Al Golden. I can't believe that this is the best we can do.

Because he is a very good coach,he would keep what we have and bring better with him!

Mr. Hart knows what he is doing. Be patient, we will have a new coach soon. It may not be the coach most of you think we need.

any communications, offers, etc. will be to gruden's lawyer--that way, gruden can deny contact, having "received" an offer, etc. when asked

Too much smoke now surrounding the Gruden talk, it might possibly be a complete burning down of the building.....he will be the next HC of UT, it won't happen til probably friday or monday, depending on when Hart/boosters/Gruden want to lay it on the world.

His kids were at knox catholic HS the other week. I mean come on, way too much smoke for it not to be true....GBO VFL.....be patient guys.....he will come

Incorrect. This stems from multiple media outlets, including both Hubbs and Hyams, reporting late yesterday afternoon that Gruden cancelled a scheduled meeting with Hart. Hubbs later added that Gruden told Hart there was "no reason" for them to meet. A slightly less-substantiated part of this story is speculation that Gruden told Hart he didn't want to meet unless Hart was prepared to offer him a contract. (This was referenced in the OP.)

Either Gruden wants it or he doesn't, no need to be held hostage by anyone. Hire Petrino, he's a football coach not a minister.

UT likes to never officially make offers unless they are 100 percent sure you're going to accept. That way they are never turned down and the next guy doesn't feel slighted.

From what I read they make suggestions as does the coach. If there is an agreement then an offer is "officially" made. Otherwise it's just discussions which he never denied.

Stop finding reasons to be upset. Hart is doing what he can. Message boards can show lack of knowledge and too much gossip especially during times like now.
