Ainge Show

Does Erik bring anything to the table anymore. When his show began it was a refreshing take on the game.
Now it just seems boring with nothing but silly dribble.

The show has become the sport's radio version of Beavis and Butt-Head. Had to stop listening to them because it reminded me of two juvenile delinquents in high school in the back of the classroom cracking jokes about belching and passing gas. His show won't last long with that garbage - his advertisers won't pay for it and without them his show goes bye-bye.

I like his show and Swain's as well. I really enjoy hearing from former players instead of journalism class dorks who never played a sport in their life and live to be critical of others.

Amen to this. Dorks like Finebaum, Clay Travis and Will West among others make me tune out completely. These 'journalists" pretend to be experts, but they do nothing but repeat rumors spread by other journalist idiots and get on the politically correct bandwagon. Finebaum and Travis are prostitutes in their local markets to get a following. Finebaum incites the bammers and Travis has his lips tightly sealed to Franklin's :shaking2:

Can't stand it. It is probably the better of the two sports talk morning shows though, considering it's either Ainge's terrible humor, or Doc, Jeff, and Heather rambling on about stuff they have absolutely no clue about.

I know TSR won't do it, but I'd rather have Ainge on from 7-9, then have some national radio host on until 11-12 or so.

Doc, Jeff, and Heather are the worst I have ever heard covering any sport in any city.

From thin air, Doc makes up some stupid claim and then when challenged (because it's so obviously dumb) for the next ten minutes we get to listen to Doc say, "That's not what I said, that's not what I'm saying."

I love listening to Ainge on Monday mornings after a game - to either talk me off the ledge or enjoy a win all the more. I like the football analysis and even some of the banter with JayBay (some people have mentioned they don't like JayBay, but, other than the sophomoric humor he often seems to say what I'm thinking - regular fan stuff - and when it's bounced off Erik it can be interesting). Ainge isn't a hack and does tell it like it is, but he is a VFL and really appreciates our tradition.

That said, the commercials are enormously long. The only way I listen is via podcast so I can forward them.

I agree with the comments about Nashville. Clay Travis is the most arrogant and annoying individual on radio.

Unfortunately Doug Mathews, the most knowledgeable Nashville radio personality re UT, is principally on only Saturday and Sunday mornings. His Big Orange Sunday show is very informative (also during the winter when Bill Justus does a segment each week). Re football, he has said since Jones was hired to temper the excitement as with the talent UT has, we were probably going to be 6-6 at best this year, and that was before Missouri and Auburn showed life.

Does anyone ever say anything good on here about anything?

I have said twice in this thread that Ainge is good with analysis, which he is. A few people have said Butch gets it. Many others have said Gruden is coming....soon. So, yes, people say good stuff on here sometimes

I agree. I used to like his show a lot, now I can't even listen. He's never even heard the word humble. Also, the immature jokes between Ainge and Jay-Bay are just awful radio. If they were funny, it would be one thing, but they are like 6th-grade-funny.
Have you heard the spot where Ainge talks about something being in business since 2006? He then says, "2006, shew, that was the year!" Really, Ainge, was it? Forgetting the fact that nothing amazing by the way of UT football standards happened that year, it was just another chance for him to make it all about him.
If he were the second chair of a show, that would be fine, but it would have to be behind a true sports radio pro. I don't think they have any on that station. I do enjoy listening to Hooker, though. I also make sure to catch Inkspirations as I leave work every day.

I can't honestly think of a single time that I've been entertained by the Sports Animal show...or informed of something I didn't already know.

the Jeff and Heather shouting match sounded entertaining, but that's all I got.

You are right.
Look at how that stuff ruined Howard Stern's career.

Over the summer I started listening to Ainge's show. It was pretty brutal since we were out of season but I still listened every day on my 30-minute commute to work. I kept listening because, every now and then, there would be something discussed that gave me insight or something to think about.

Once the season started, I expected more but have gotten less... Less insightful and thought provoking discussion and comments by Ainge.

At the same time, I've gotten more juvenile attempts at humor between he and J-Bay. It's awful... BUT, I still listen on my commute for those momentary lapses into actual thoughtful discussions. I listen only because the Sports Animal offers zero.

I really like the concept of TSR, but if Ainge is the crown jewel of their lineup, then they are in a precarious position unless J-Bay wakes up and realizes what he's allowing to happen.

Swain's show is by far my favorite now that Rucker is gone. Reid's show at 6 is also good. Treece is okay when he discusses football without including his past playing days.

It's still much more entertaining than the other morning radio show option IMO.

Unfortunately you are correct, i turn bleather and docto on and i can listen for 2 minutes and then it becomes unbearable. I then switch to EA show for about 5 minutes and it goed down hill. The radio shows here are just not great, to much arrogance and animosity toward the team and people who call the shows.

Swain should be the crown jewel, he has good points and good interviews. I have listened/watched UT football for over 35 years and never knew anyone named treece ever played for us.
