Air Force - To Tattoo or Not

it's comforting to note that 90% of NBA rosters will never serve in the Air Force.

Have you seen some of these idiot's tattoos?

I've got seven myself, but only two are visible on the back of my forearms.

I can understand how it may look to others, but if the best person qualified has full sleeves, I'd give him a pass and put him through.

After I got mine, I began to realize people treat you differently until they get to know you. I guess the skulls and flames are a put off.

I have 3 myself, I regret them everyday. I was young and stupid. I would not want someone not put in a position they have earned just because they have them.

I have no problem with these guys having tattoos. What is the big deal?

It's not a big deal and the change in policy proves it.

That said, I agree with the policy that says tattoos shouldn't be visible when a soldier is in uniform.

That's not what I am referring to. I have had people come before me with Tats on their damn face. I could care less about tattoos as a whole. The Navy corners the market in them.

Just a month ago I had to deal with an idiot who tattooed Hate on one side of his neck and anger on the other. His excuse was he wanted the people on either side of him getting a different story.

EDIT: this is in reference to RockyTopVol

I agree that they don't really look professional, but if there is a soldier who is going to go to war and serve this country I am not bothered at all by what they put on their bodies.

Same here. I got mine and when I was around 22.

I didn't say, give the guy the position because he's got tattoos. If he's the best qualified, then he should get the position regardless of tattoos.

agreed. My only argument is that a soldier on duty is a soldier, not a billboard.

I wholeheartedly agree. There used to be a girl that worked at a Taco Bell in Lexington that had a fish tattoo on her neck and the side of her face.

I always thought there was something fishy about her. :)

I've never served, so I don't know all the nuances. But I'm of the opinion that these guys have earned the right to do whatever they want as far as body art goes. If it isn't visible, who cares.

I'm all for it, as long as the CIC gets one also.

Barry's should be on the forehead and read STUPID.

IMO, if you put on the uniform and pick up a gun to go fight for this country and you want a tat,, more power to you,,
