Does anybody know of a good place to buy airline tickets from? I'm needing international airline and the only place i'm able to find is priceline. Is web sites like these safe to buy from?

I've used Orbitz and Priceline before just fine. I even had to cancel a trip due to the tsunami in Japan and Orbitz helped me get a full refund on my ticket.

Kayak.com. It compares all those sites

Priceline, Expedia, and Orbiz arent bad but you got to beware of the advertised ticket price. While they might have a favorable price compared to the others the price increases when the fees are added. Personally I like kayak because it uses all 3 as well as the specific airline site.

Sign up on kayak (they wont spam your email) and there's a few extra features that are useful for int travel that being +/- 3 days as well as using nearby airports in your search. You can also set up notification when a specific route hits a specific price.

My suggestion is checking periodically before you buy the tickets. International rates can fluxuate and it pays be patient. If possible plan on leaving the US on a weekday as the prices seem to be cheaper.

You can also go directly to the airline websites. Although some of the others will find you deals it won't be much better than what you find on the original website from what I've seen in the past.

Wasn’t sure where to put this. Someone make this make sense. Bought my daughter a one way ticket today for travel today on American Airlines from Columbus Ohio to Tampa Bay Florida with a connection in Charlotte. Each leg sold separately was about $325 for a total of about $650. But if you buy both parts together it was only $95.

Round trip is always a better deal, but that's kind of extreme.

Guessing the connection on the bottom one brought the cost down. edit: didn’t see that the top was the same flights. That is weird

this all day

the +/- 3 days is big especially when planning an international trip. Also, use the filter to reduce the travel time. Sometimes Kayak will show you the best rate and its attractive but it will be 40 hrs plus 3 stops on a simple 12-16 hr international flight.

If you are going internationally, be sure to get your covid affairs in order before you leave. Be vaccinated and carry your card like you do your passport. Check with your destination country on their requirements to get in, not only what they require medically but if there are any restrictions on what country you can fly from. For example, I just returned from Germany a few weeks ago. To get there my flight had to orginate in the US and fly to Germany. No layovers stop in London, Amsterdam, Paris, etc... Had to fly into Germany. On your way back you need to have a full covid test (no rapid test) 72 hrs before getting on the plane. Find a location now in your destination and book it as soon as you can. They will send you the results that day on your email in pdf form. The airlines might tell you to print it out but United read the pdf from my phone and took it.

One thing I have learned when looking for international flights is to look into pricing for the airline in the country you are going to. They all have partners here, and usually it is much cheaper.

I ran into a similar situation a few years back where I bought a flight like yours and didn’t get on the connecting flight as I was only wanting to go to the connecting airport. Sometimes the ticket pricing makes no sense

Skiplagged.com is an example of a site that will search for multi-leg trips for cheaper prices.
