This whole season, I've been watching him get beat by TE, RB, and WR's. I see that his numbers are really good, but they don't tell the whole story. He's a great run stopper, but should not be a starting middle linebacker in the SEC. He couldn't cover the ABC song.

Get outta here, AJ is solid and plays with heart and anger. If we could get to the quarterback he'd be All SEC. Again, get out.

He's a great 2 down LB and could be a solid DE in a 3-4 scheme at the next level.

He isn't a cover guy though. That was established a couple years ago.

STAHHHHP!!!

It's not good to criticize players, bro. They tried their hardest. That's all that matters. This is Upward sports, you know.

AJ can lay some wood, no doubt about it. That speed picks up a notch or two and you havd a guy that starts on Sunday

I respectfully disagree. Playing with heart and anger is all well and good, but his technique sucks. Too many grabbing tackles. He is asked to do a lot as the leader of the defense, but he will get better. Hopefully he will come back.

If he makes it to the next level it will be with his hand in the dirt. Should be playing there now with a little more size on him.

Should be back for next year
Yeah he'll probably still be playing where he's at. I don't see them moving him for one year. Should have developed him there. I know we were short on linebackers. He's more suited for DE though.

Hope the best for him. He's from just down the road from where I live. Good to see a local kid playing for Tennessee.

I love his heart and drive, but the kid has some poor habits on the field. Plus, the kid is still raw and needs refining along with increasing his football IQ. With that being said, I think he will play on Sunday's.

Yea he's not a refined tackler but he gets the job done and he's the most physical guy on the defense. Sutton is becoming the second most physical.

That TD play over the middle when the ref got in the way Johnson took a really bad angle. He is inconsistent. Great play on one and WTF on the other. If he took the right angle on that play over the middle he may have been ejected for taking the WR's head off.

AJ is a good MLB, but he's on the field too much. If we had better depth at LB and were able to sub him out in nickel packages a bit more I think we'd see better production from him.

80 snaps a game is too much for a run stopper.

This guy was a 3-4 backer for Dooley all the way ..anybody else would have made him into a DE .
That being said , he is too big and slow to do the sideline to sideline assignments of the 4-3 and the coverage assignments consistently.

He is giving his all and I salute him . I hope he is back next season as we will be short on LBs and his leadership will be needed .

That explains a lot. He's definitely a tweener. Dooley did more harm than good.
