Add 10 lbs. and go TE. Remember that he has good running ability with the ball.

Is not a good Mike type LB at all. Is not fast enough for the other LB positions. He can't cover TE's or RB's. Just a chaser that can make a tackle from the side or behind.

If he is so bad why is he projected to go in the first few rounds of the NFL draft? I think he's pretty good myself

I don't think he's bad, I do think he has some glaring problems with pursuit angles, but most of that is coaching IMO.

I swear our fans have this delusion that if a player isn't a unanimous All-American and lock as a future All-Pro, then he sucks. Why can't anyone just be happy that we have an All-SEC MLB on our defense?

And if you think he can't play on Sundays because of his speed, then you really need to have your brain examined. MLBs aren't supposed to run with WRs. MLBs SHOULD get beat in coverage almost every play (unless your WR is slow as snot). That's why its such a good matchup to exploit! AJ is plenty fast as a MLB... thats why he's near the ball on every play

The bashing needs to stop on AJ. The kid has been a part of some of the worst ut teams there has ever been, but has he ever missed a game no, been in trouble no. He is there day in and day out giving his all for our beloved vols.maybe if he had a better defensive line to take on blocks he would be better, maybe he the other two linebackers were worth a damn and could help him out a little he would be better. The guy brings it every game and gives his all. Sure he makes mistakes all the players do, but to bash a guy for working his tail of since he stepped foot on campus to try and turn this around is ridiculous. Keep bringing AJ this is one fan that is glad your vfl

What kills me is Jacques Smith is built like the ultimate football machine and has done little to nothing on the field.

AJ is slow on passing plays...but I believe with a better D line that would actually keep the O line from reaching the second tier, which ours cannot, would help him out also...some of his bad angles are bc he is trying to get past O lineman that our D line couldn't hold up...but would be interested to see him at DE...with Maggitt in the middle

Many of u need to realize that AJ isn't the main issue. If you watch the tape, the defensive line gets completely destroyed. It would be hard for Al Wilson to make plays with the DTs getting pushed back three yards in his lap. Is he the best MLB? No, but he would look a lot better in a defense with a competent dline. He also wouldn't look so slow running to the sidelines if our D ends would learn how to keep contain and cut thing back to the middle every once in a while...

AJ isn't Al Wilson by any stretch but our awful defensive line isn't helping. Hood isn't a defensive tackle and I'm not sure why the coaches keep thinking he is

Al Wilson doesn't need a defensive line or any supporting cast. Al Wilson would have single handedly destroyed AU...Know that! :)
