Al Qaeda is building a white army of terror in the United Kingdom, according to the U.K.'s Scotland on Sunday.

According to a source at MI5 — the British equivalent of the CIA — 1,500 white Britons are believed to have converted to Islam with the purpose of funding, planning, and carrying out surprise terror attacks, the newspaper reported.

Security experts say the growing number of white terrorists poses a serious threat because they are less likely to be detected than members of the Asian community.

Terror groups like Al Qaeda reportedly began recruiting white non-Muslims in response to the success intelligence services have had in disrupting and stopping extremist plots around the world.

One reported strategy the terrorists use is to look for converts in prisons, where those in custody tend to be lonely and particularly susceptible. Recruiters comfort and support the inmate, with little mention — if any — to religion, according to the paper. Over time, conversations turn more radical.

One of leading Muslim leaders disputed the claims of radicalization, saying Islam's strict moral code made it unattractive to many Westerners, the paper reported - source

Why blow up buildings?

Eroding civil liberties in the west might actually be counter productive to the whole Islamist agenda. From where I sit, the last thing Al Qaeda et al. want is a western world determined to fight and defeat them. Such determination is to be found in the Bush camp, not amongst the civil libertarians. I for one don't see how the islamic radicals "win" if Bush takes away our civil liberties. In a funny sort of way, that claim is very much like Bush's own claim that they "hate our freedoms." Both assume that Islamicists want to erode our civil liberties for the sake of eroding our civil liberties.

Islamicists want the world to embrace Islam. They want the White House to become the next Hagia Sophia, if you will. In order to bring this about, it is supreme folly for them to fight us at our strong point: militarily. That is a battle they cannot win. Not directly and openly. But they can, and are, breaking us down in other ways. Five years into Iraq, and American military might is tired and much of its domestic population questions our presense there. And not without many good reasons.

But over there, five years is a blink of an eye. They can lose ten times the casualties we do, and still feel like they're just warming up while our much slimmer loses make us question our ability to acheive our objectives in Iraq. Whatever those objectives are. You see, this is their supreme advantage over use. Cultural vigor. We might have the money and we certainly have the military might. But they have the tenacity, faith in themselves and above all, the will to win. The west is like an aging man whose reached the pinacle of his life and career. He's top dog, but time ain't on his side. The Islamic world is like the young teenager just coming of age to challenge him. He's weaker, poorer and inexperienced, but he's also dogged, determined and full of youthful vitality.

Their best bet is to use our own decadent tendancies against us. Instead of hating the west for, say, its strong, independant, sexually liberated women, the fanatical muslims should welcome that as great long term development for their ultimate goal. Such women don't have children, or if they do, far fewer children than their traditionalistic, submissive Islamic counterparts do. That means the Islamic world's population grows while ours doesn't. In order to sustain our population at levels required to sustain our economy's need for growth, we must import our excess population. Where's it going to come from?

Compound this with our cultural inferiority complex that drives our cultural, educational and professional elites to cry "racism" against any suggestion that such demographic developments will spell the eventual doom of our civilization. Compound this with western cultural elite's faith in multi-cultural relativism that holds that all cultures are equal, and that we have no right to condemn the values and norms of foreign societies, including the barbarity of Sharia law. Compound this with those same elite's guilt complexes over historical racism and colonialism which more or less robs them of any belief that our own civilization has anything worth preserving or fighting for.

Simply put, the best strategy for Al-Quada to persue in the long term would be to encourage us in those areas it would seem least likely or logical for them to do in the short term. Multi culturalism and radical feminism are as far removed from Al Quada's world view as you can get, but so long as we embrace them and they do not, they cannot help but prevail over us. Women not marrying and having children imposes a population deficit on us that we must compensate for by importing our needed population. Similarily, open door immigration policies and multi-cultural ideologies allow them to come here en masse and insulate them from expectations that they conform to our norms, values and culture once they do arive. Then, its just a matter of time before they become a literal demographic majority...

And the White House becomes the next Hagia Sophia. And with none of the casualties they suffered while taking Constantinople. Just as long as they can be patient about it and not blow too much up in the mean time.

Silly!

You know his state of the union speeches when he quotes lines from church hymns!

You need to get into church!

"There is power – wonder-working power – in the goodness and idealism and faith of the American people." His cadence in these lines come from the hymn by Lewis E. Jones, a revival hymn from 1899 once sung in the streets to whip up religious frenzy for prohibition

I apologize for not having anything constructive to say about your original post. Fact is, I couldn't find the cliff notes. That and I've given up on trying to make any kind of real point in the politics forums.

This validates me telling my son not to trusty whitey. Now if he would only take what I say at face value...

Doesn't this smell a little bit like the old NKVD/KGB tactic to put a double agent in place to convince the CIA/FBI/MI-6 that there are moles in place. The US counter-intelligence apparatus (Jim Angleton, in particular) tied up operations for years seeking out traitors. It kind of seems like widening the field of possible suspects might make it harder to catch the rat, in this case.

I haven't read that...good?

I thought so. I only read non-fiction for the most part. I would give it a 8.5 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Started Sacco and Vanzetti last night. I believe you are in Boston? The story mainly takes place in the Boston area.
