The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Kite said he wasn't sure of the exact date of his planned visit with the Vols. But a source close to his recruitment indicated that his trip to Tennessee is set for the weekend of June 25.

The Vols' new staff reaffirmed their previous offer to Kite on March 9. Tennessee and most other schools are recruiting him as a projected defensive back.

He's a two-sport standout who has expressed interest in playing both football and basketball in college. Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Penn State, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech are among the other teams currently pursuing him.

Last month, following his trip to Alabama on April 17 for the Crimson Tide's spring game, he told 247Sports' Hank South that Tennessee was one of at least a handful of schools staying in contact with him.

“Florida State and Bama," Kite said at the time. "It’s more schools. All of them have been recruiting me. Tennessee, Oklahoma, Penn State … there’s a lot of them."

Kite also told South last month that he planned to take some official visits in June. He mentioned at the time that Tennessee and Florida State were a couple of the schools he was planning to visit this summer. He said Alabama will receive an official visit at some point, too.
