Alabama just lost to Mercer

They're rolling about as well as a cinder block would on their basketball court.

Mercer (GA)?

Yep. They're my hometown team. I'm glad somebody that I hold season tickets for finally beat Alabama in something.

In defense of the Bears, they really aren't bad. They returned 4 starters from a team that won 27 games last year and have nearly beaten George Mason, UGA and Wake Forest in the past month and did beat FSU. Still . . . I can't stop snickering.

Yeah, but Mercer lost to a woeful UGA team just a few days ago. This is a bad home loss for Bammer. I think the line was 15. Mercer lost to Denver by 29 points too.

Something isn't right at Bammer. They lost by only 2 at Cincy at the beginning of the month. Then they proceed to lose to Dayton at home and get clobbered by VCU on the road and then lose today to Mercer at home.

This loss will be to Bammer what the Austin Peay loss was to UT last year. The ultimate turd in the punch bowl come tourney selection time.

I'm sure they're rioting and burning stuff in celebration over there. :)

It's a neat little campus. Just don't make any wrong turns when you leave campus.

No doubt :)

They're actually ripping up the entire campus over the next year and renovating it. It's a mess right now but supposed to be beautiful when it's done.

The first week learning my way around was a scary adventure.

No doubt it's a bad loss for them, but I'd hate to see Tennessee play them right now. Mercer will defend all day long and generally ugly up anybody they play. That Denver game was inexplicable, but they've had a chance to win every other game they've played except maybe New Mexico. Mercer will end up around 20 wins and probably be playing for a tournament bid at the end of the year in the A-Sun tournament.

I've lived here for 20 years and drove by there last night. It's still a scary adventure.

Friends daughter got a full ride there. Will be a freshman next fall, is it a good University I know nothing about Mercer.

Mercer is great. I absolutely love it. It's really expensive so props to her for getting the full ride. I have friends that go to Georgia Southern, UGA, and Georgia State and the information we cover in class is a lot more advanced than the equivalent classes at the other schools. She made a good decision.

Isn't that generally how it works with conference tournaments? :)

Yeah . . . but these guys are probably an odds on favorite to be in the championship game.

It's a terrible league now that Belmont is gone. It's wide open for somebody to win that isn't very good at all.

They definitely lost the class of the league when Belmont left, but I'd say the gap had closed in recent years. But it's never been a remotely good league.

I'd be really surprised though if anybody but Mercer or Fla Gulf Coast wins it this year. If either can stay out of the 16 seeds, they can give somebody fits in a first round game in the tournament.
