Im usually not big on bands trying to replace the lead singer after whatever circumstances but damn i always have loved this band, Jerry Cantrell is such a talented mofo and this album is quite impressive. It's f'n cool to see a resurgence of AIC.

i def like the album, but i would have liked to see duvall take the lead on more songs. i love jerry, but that guy can sing. it's still a very good album even if it is almost a jerry cantrell solo album.

saw them in nashville 3 or 4 weeks ago and they still bring it. highly recommend seeing them with duvall.

Before I express my opinions on this, know that I gave this new band a chance and saw them live in Mizzou. I'm not some close-minded jerk who hates the thought of change.

However, with Alice in Chains, it's a huge exception. Aside from the fact that replacing a voice like Layne Staley's is a difficult task, I honestly can't stand DuVall's nasal twist on the signature AiC wail.

On its own, the record's okay, but as an AiC album, it's slow and weak... that's just my 2 cents.

This is also coming from someone who loved their debut record and can't go a day without listening to Real Thing, so I'm a little biased on replacing the tortured howl Layne possessed.

I really like this album. It has a lot of the "old" AIC sound (thanks to Cantrell, the primary driving musical force of the group). I think that DuVall was a great addition to the group and maintains its original mood.
