And this came up in another thread BUT...

How good could this team be next year?

The core of Golden, Stokes, and Maymon are no doubt returning plus continued improvement from the other guys including our shooting guards.

Is this a Final Four caliber roster returning? Me thinks so.

If Tennessee can get Hall back or get Mitchell, and another shooter, then yes.

The key is Golden's development and McRae's consistency.

With the way this team defends and rebounds right now, imagine them next year.

Now, add the fact that Stokes, Golden, and McRae will get another year of development with Martin.

Is it likey? Probably not. If they continue to improve, do they have that capability? Ab-so-****in-lutely.

scholly's ?

Depends. If Hall is kicked, you got one.

Good chance that either Reese, Chevious, Washpun, or Miller won't be on the team next for next year (Reese possible prep school).

I just would rather Hall stay gone. I know he is a body, but for every game we need Hall, there are 10 that we don't. His lax play would pull the team down right now, even subconciously.

I don't think its a coincidence that he isn't around during this intense run that takes mental and physical toughness. Jmo

I think you may be a little ahead of yourself there. Next year's team will be much improved in every area, I still think FF is stretching it a bit. I see more of a Sweet Sixteen type team. But with the way this team defends and the offense opening up more next year, you just never know.

But I do hope your right and I'm wrong.

Everyone is forgetting a KEY component to us being successful next year. Mcbee's stache and its removal. Book it.

Only rumors.
He'll be here.

PS Martin has called him the toughest kid on the team if that tells you anything.

He's inconsistent. But he plays decent defense, can add some offensive value, and is another big body at 6'10/230, and has experience. I like Yemi, but that is a lot of pressure on him if Mitchell doesn't come here.

If we get Mitchell, develop some shooters and find a backup for Golden we are set for a run at the big one.

How huge Jarnell Stokes is gonna be off the court. If he tells a potential recruit any of these 3 things.

1. Come to TN, you will get a fair chance to prove yourself onto the court.

2. You can come be part of a sec conference challenging team and will probably see the big tourny your freshman year.

3. I need your help to build this into a final four caliber team.

They would all be either true or very possible. So I'd keep an eye out for a couple, maybe 4-5 star, espn top 100 recruits to come out of no where and become vfls. Especially if they can somehow find themselves in the big dance.

I know it's super early, but I'm thinking stokes is reminding me of Corliss Williamson, the guy from arky. Am I the only one?

Final Four is an amazing feat in itself. The Vols have never been to it, for one.

Final Four?

Man, some of you guys .... whew ...

Yes, Tennessee has improved a ton over the course of the year, and we return some really good players. It's even possible that we could make a nice run in the tournament next year. But to call us a "Final Four Team" going into the season is a big time stretch.

FWIW, I was one if the first to call BS on the predictions that had us picked to finish 11th in the SEC this year, so I'm definitely not a negavol ... just trying to "keep it real" with these predictions.

Understandable.

I don't think anyone is saying that outside the OP.

I just think we will have a good enough team to get there considering the improvements this team will make in the offseason.
