Bathrooms

BOULDER, Colo. -- A transgender task force wants to bring more "all-gendered" bathrooms to the University of Colorado-Boulder campus, the Boulder Daily Camera reported in its Monday editions.

"It's about creating more welcoming spaces," Bryce Abelson told the newspaper.
Abelson identified himself as "gender queer," a person who is neither male or female. He said he doesn't feel comfortable in the men's bathroom and gets strange looks when he walks in the women's bathroom.

Task force members believe the costs of changing current male and female bathrooms will be minimal because only the signs need to be changed on existing bathrooms. One bathroom already exists outside the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center.

The sign for a transgender bathroom is half of a figure wearing a dress and the other half wearing pants.

The tasks force is taking its request to CU officials, but no decision has been made.

Needed or nuts?

There are some unisex bathrooms in the country. Colorado isn't the first to such a thing. I believe it will just be an option, they will still offer both male and female bathrooms seperately.

So having said that, it's fine with me if a guy or gal chooses to use it. I wouldn't, but whatever.

Colorado is always trying to do stuff like this....

I love the family bathrooms....get the whole gang in there at once and take care of business in one trip. Wonders for the little ones on changing diapers and potty breaks.

Didn't NYC mandate that there should be 2 female bathrooms for every male bathroom? How many "neutral site" bathrooms will be needed?

I remember my neighbors going to Germany 30 years ago and talking about the co-ed bathrooms. I like my privacy and it might be uncomfortable standing at a urinal while a lady walks past you to get to a stall, lol.

Agreed! 100%

You don't think Abelson is a perv, he just wants to go into women's bathroom to check out the chicks!

Public restrooms are disgusting. No self-respecting woman would want to use the same public restroom as a man.

Umm....women's are not better. Back in my youth I worked at Best Buy and had the 'privilege' to clean the restrooms one time. The women's restroom was BY FAR worse than the men's. I asked the guy who usually cleaned them and he said women's restrooms are usually much dirtier than men's.

Never knew that. I assumed nothing could be as bad the men's public restrooms I have encountered.

Considering that half of the guys pee all over the floor, I'd have to agree. There's nothing worse than standing in a cumulative puddle of pee when you have to go. :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

Exactly... I'm like Finch from American Pie. Every public restroom I've ever been in has been an olfactory nightmare.

The horse trough urinals at Neyland are the worse. There's just something about standing there while a river of everyone else's piss flows by you. :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

The worst I ever saw was an infield bathroom at the Indy 500. It was a cinderblock building full of troughs. The floor was covered so much that it leaked out through the entry door. To get in, you had to tip toe around a giant pool of the urine. When I was coming out, some guy was ankle deep in it walking in -- he was barefoot! :yuck:

What's crazier is that he was muttering "this sucks" as he was walking in!

Amazing what alcohol will do...
