Last night (The Dogs ) ( Gators ) on Countdown to Signing Day are loading the boat for the next few years and we had one player out of three all southern teams . It looks like to me our a-- is grass for the next few years and Ga and UF are going to be the lawn mowers ! Man it looks like this 5 and 6 season has killed our program for the next few years .These guys they are getting are the cream of the crop in the south . These players make up 80 % of the first , second and third all southern teams . I have never seen one bad season hurt a program like it has ours . :disappointed: :mf_surrender:

i wouldn't worry too much....if half of those recruits pan out, they'll be lucky...recruiting is a crap shoot...soem will pan out some won't, and there's always a few guys that will suprise....plus, we still have 3-4 years with some of the guys we signed last year, and so long as we don't suck out loud again next year, we'll come back strong in recruiting...plus it's still way early....we never start off really strong....but we have finished strong plenty of times...

I agree with the crap shoot analogy. Recruits cannot be measured by their heart and willingness to learn and maintain discipline.

Though it sure does not hurt when you have a few stars by your name........

yeah, i agree..the more you get the better the chances are you'll have a higher % of blue chippers out there....

but we've all seen guys we've recruited in the past, who had all the potential and hype in the world that didn't do diddly, Dan Brooks comes to mind....

it's just too early...and one thing to remember, UF had a bunch of sships to fill this year...and those gators did get a lot of momentum on offense when Tebow signed...wonder what would happen if Mustain signed with us???? hm......

Yeah, it doesn't look good for this year, but the sky is not totally falling here.

It's not like we didn't get a consensus top three class last year and scout had us number 1. Where was Florida last year? They didn't pull in a top ten class last year. So it looks like the Vols and Gators will flip flop this year with last.

We also don't have alot of schollies to offer which in turn means we have alot of people coming back especially quite a few redshirts.

All this with a 5-6 record clearly was not going to produce a top class this year.

I have yet to give up on this year either. What if we were to get a top player like Mustain or Eugene? Then a small snowball effect could come at the end of Jan. and getting us a top 15 class.

With our schedule next year I can see us being the Georgia of this year. We can and should win at least 8 to 9 regular season games. Trust me our offense can't be any worse under Cut than it has the past couple of years.

On a side note: Anyone that thinks Florida is going to run through their shedule next year and win the East is crazy IMO. With Portis out, if Leak gets hurt then they could easily lose 5 to 6 games next year. Chad Jackson may not even return. Now in 2007 or 08 they could be a good team. UGA worries me more than UF. Richt has a good thing rolling over there.

You're probably jumping the gun....I don't think it has hurt us too much.....I mean we're only what? A month into the offseason? Just like everyone said, give it time.

Auburn, Alabama, and LSU are all bringing in solid classes too.

I predict UT's recruiting class with be 6th best in the SEC.

The Vols' recruiting will be there, no doubt. One bad year doesn't really undo years of tradition.

Up in Big Blue Land, Brooks and company have obtained 27 verbals, which ranks them as the 23rd class in the country. Silently, the Cats are signing a few decent recruits- nothing like the LSU's, Georgias, Tennessees of the world, but slowly improving.

The truth is that our main selling point is that if you come to UK, you won't sit on the bench 3 years before you play.

While I'm pleased with the class the Gators are bringing in...it doesn't mean squat if they cant perform on the field. Two things will have to happen for the Gators to get better in Meyers scheme: 1) Leak will have to graduate. 2) The OL will need an upgrade. You could see it in the LSU game...UF was vulnerable with no backs in the backfield.

Even if this does end up as a weak class and the other teams in the east have great years how does that mean our asses are grass? UT had on of the best classes in the country last year so using your theory wouldn't that mean that UF and UGA were toast for the next few years? Of course not, and one bad recruiting year for UT does not mean doom and gloom for the next several seasons.

Go look at Uga and UF class this year if stars means anything this could be the best class that each school has ever had . Our class last year was great but if you go by stars out class don't compare . I know some say stars mean nothing and some do .They are getting 8 out of 10 of the best players in the south .I know we get the best players late and hope we do well .This year just don't look good for our future .I hope i'm wrong i love the vols year round no matter how good they do .I bleed Orange 24/7 .

We loaded the boat last year and it didn't help.

GA will have half of their class fail out
UF will have half their class get arrested

Crap happens.

God forbid we don't take the 5-Star players with jail backgrounds and instead take the 2-3 Star, educated ones.

Yeah, then we can compete with Vanderbilt for best in Tennessee every year! :D

i hate to agree but u are right. recruiting is all guessing for the most part. plus they dont pay dividends for a couple years.

I'd much rather take a teachable 2 or 3 star than a cocky 5-star who won't listen. Real coaches learn to develop the 2 stars into solid football players.

If 2 stars are so great, why aren't teams like USC, Florida, Oklahoma, ND, etc. recruiting them? Yeah, there are times when a player comes out of nowhere and wasn't highly recruited. Kelley Washington comes to mind. But if you have a team full of 2 star players, you're in trouble.
