I just posted a positive review for Thank You For Smoking. I don't think having disdain for the Gatlins makes you negative, it makes you sane.

I'm in LIO corner as far as not hating the Gatlin Brothers.Let's put it this way, the song 'All the Gold in California' was a huge hit. Did you guys hate the Oak Ridge Boys,Statler Brothers as well? :dunno:

Sorry, the Pop Country of the 80s is for the most part just not my cup o' tea. Despite that, I do like the Statlers and Oak Ridge Boys. Even if I don't really care much for that style, those guys can flat out sing

The Statler Brothers and Oak Ridge Boys were tremendous vocal harmony bands. The Gatlin Brothers were talentless hacks with bad perms.

I will say this in their defense. Some (not all) of the Gatlins are really good guys. I got to know a couple of them when we lived at Pawleys Island and they had a theater at Myrtle Beach.

That said, I agree with the general assessment on their music. I never once went to the show even though they always gave me passes.
