David Newton, of ESPN.com, reports Richard Petty Motorsports driver A.J. Allmendinger was charged with drunken driving Thursday, Oct. 29. He was driving a 2007 Lexus when he was pulled over at 1:27 a.m. Police said he blew a .08 on a breathalyzer test. Allmendinger's court date is set for Dec. 18. He will still be in the car for the Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend.

Damn .08 is just BARELY legally drunk, I would bet that he was barely feeling it. I know that .08 is LEGALLY drunk, but man, if he was 1/100 of a precentage point lower (maybe 1/2 sip of a beer) they would have let him drive home and we would have never heard of this.

I hope he gets the case dropped and/or this doesnt ruin his Nascar carreer.

Plus Michael Waltrip has one of these stories every year it seems.

How stupid can these guys get? Mayfield is a meth head, Waltrip can't pilot a car on or off the track, and now A.J. does this? Nascar needs to rein in these idiots so that their reputation doesn't take anymore damage. A.J. is out there in violation of the law, with a two ton weapon on the road, and some of you are worried about whether or not this will ruin his career? Until you have had a family member affected by this you will never understand what he has done! The jack@ss should get nailed! He should know how Petty feels about alcohol, he drives for the man! Next time, get a taxi!
