I saw this a few years back and it really is an incredible and underrated film. Even Timberlake shows some surprising acting talent in it. The trial that it's based on is still going on. Check this movie out if you haven't seen it.

Maybe a better job of casting would have helped.

The whole premise of the story is there's a group of 20 somethings SoCal who all want to be tough guy/drug dealers but they are really just a bunch of *****es.

So yeah, that's the idea.

Is it entertaining? That's a matter of opinion. I view it as a sad story where a kid loses his life when it could have been easily avoided.
