Forget the inferior competition handling Vandy in Nashville this year, they'll be plenty up for this game and for sure have the talent. I, as well as probably all of you, have seen the nut job calls that goes down at Memorial so here's to a "hopefull" even officiated game!! :hi:

Personally, I think we got an above average chance to take down the nerds. If anyone has watched Vandy play this year, you'd see that they don't like playing physical. They have some great shooters but with the way our D has played so good consistantly, they'll have to earn those points and probably take a lot of bad shots. If we can handle Uconn on the boards, no reason we can't stop Goulbourne and Ezeli.

Keys to win - Contest every Jenkins and Taylor shot, control the boards, and get back on defense. The only things that bother me about this game is Vandy's transition points and the fact they are coming off a loss in Memorial to MSU.

One season, we went to Vandy as the #1 ranking in the nation and left with a loss. We played un inspired, but we still lost.
My point is that we need to take Vandy serious. If we follow our usual pattern, we will win the big games but not show up for the others. With a win over UConn, I feel that we are due an un inspired performance and a 2 or 3 point loss. See University of Georgia game..... See Austin Peay game....

I just don't see us having the experience to get the win in Memorial this year. We should be a confident ball club after the win on Saturday but I just don't see it. Vandy is playing good ball right now. I'd probably take Vandy by double digits.

I hate that stupid gym.

I like the way we maych up with vandy.i think richardson will make it real hard for jenkings to get his shot off.ill take maymon and stokes over vandys bigs.imo the key is taylor.if we can keep him to around 8-12 points i think we come out with a win.

I wonder what they will do with the extra 995 shirts. Clay Travis has put his name in the hat as long as Franklin pee's on them.

this is a huge game for tennessee, going to be interesting to see how our inexperienced team handles the way the benches are set up. here's my keys to the game:

1. run jenkins off the line, make him put it on the floor and shoot from 2 not 3.

2. play defense exactly how you have the previous 5 games.

3. take care of the ball. vandy doesnt have the athletes that uconn does at guard no reason we should turn it over more than 10 times.

4. rebound and play physical. IMO vandy is a soft team an doesnt like to play physical. get them out of their comfort area.

5. free throws. if we dont turn it over and play d we will be in this game. dont lose it at the line, seal the game.

6. RUN EVERYONE OFF THE LINE. they shoot an average of 23 threes a game and players 1-4 shoot over 40% with tinsley jenkins and taylor all shooting over 45% from 3. make them dribble off the line.

i feel we match up very well with them. no reason golden shouldnt beat tinsley, richardson hopefully will hound jenkins, tatum and jenkins should be a good matchup hopefully tatum show up, stokes should own gilbourne, and maymon should be able to hold his own against ezeli.

Key to the game: If the Refs allow physical play, it should be to our advantage. I think we can win, but it will take a monumental defensive effort with less than 12 turnovers on offense. We will also have to shoot our FT's better , especially Stokes and Maymon. WOuld be a huge upset if we can win in Memorial.

Wait... Are you trying to compare Vanderbilt to Austin Peay?

This isn't a game that Tennessee should win. It's a game on the road against a superior opponent. Vanderbilt looked fairly soft against Mississippi State, yes. However, against Alabama, they looked anything but soft. Which Vanderbilt team will show up this game?

However, in a rivalry game such as this, I'm sure Tennessee will play their best basketball. I assume Golden will be able to get what he wants, as Tinsley isn't the best defender in the world. I do like the way Richardson matches up against Jenkins defensively, but Jenkins will get his shots. I think the most important matchup is Ezeli against Maymon. Maymon was able to stop Drummond because of his lack of physicality. Ezeli isn't afraid to play physical basketball, regardless of popular opinion. Ezeli also has a huge height advantage. If Maymon can hold his own against Ezeli, it should be a great game. If Ezeli imposes his will, it should be a Vanderbilt blowout.

Good luck Vols.

agree, especially on tinsley but Stallings isnt dumb (he just looks that way) and is always preaching film. Anyone with half a brain and a decent team, which vandy has, would be crazy not to pressure us. I'd bet golden sees a ton of pressure early. also, if mcbee sees the court much, id be shocked. Tennessee isnt the easiest team to screen so i just hope we can keep our best defenders in as long as possible because if mcbee comes in, either of the two guys he guards will drop on him all night long

I really don't like the match up.
This is going to be a much tougher game than Uconn.
This team is balanced on offense, they play very good defense and they have tons of experience.
I believe they held Bama to 32% shooting.
If we're loose on the perimeter it will rain 3s.
It will take an effort as good as we had against Uconn or better.
Not saying we can't. But TOUGH GAME.

Thanks, and congrats on the wins over my Gators and UConn. :hi:

I live in Jacksonville, like the Mets, and :shhh:, my MBA is from UF. Always good to have fans of other programs on here who aren't trolls. It's adds depth to the board.

i feel like the guarding their 3's will be a huge part of this game. below are how they shot from 3 in their 5 losses, as a team they take 23 a game and average 41% from deep.

4-17 24%
7-22 32%
5-20 25%
6-22 27%
14-27 52%

keeping this team from bombing away is a huge factor in this game IMO. richardson has a task on hand in jenkins, should be a match up to watch.
