Recently on ESPN, I have seen multiple articles concerning a possible play-off system. I am just curious about everybody's suggestions.

Personally, my idea (which will NEVER happen) is 6 leagues of 20 teams. These leagues would be split into two 10 team conferences. Each team would play the other 9 teams in their conference and three teams from the other conference. At the end of each season, the two teams atop the two top-tier conferences will play for the National Championship. Also, the top two teams from each conference will get promoted to the next league up while the bottom two teams will get relegated to the next league down.

Please share any ideas for a new system here.

Any playoff or plus-one proposal would be better than what we have now, with the exception of the one that includes the Rose Bowl to make a 3 game semifinal.

Sounds awful. Conference rivalries are what NCAA football is all about. You're just going to throw them out the window?

I think the ideal system is 8 team playoff. 4 is a start.

I would do 6 teams, 1 and 2 get a bye week then. You gotta get something for being the two best teams in the nation.

Agreed; 8 is ideal, and 4 is a start. It sounds so good, I had to repeat it.

16 would be fun, but with a 12-game regular season and conference title games, 16 seems like quite a stretch; that's a lot of games.

I have seen many high school playoffs that consisted of 32 teams, after a 10-game season. That's 15 games for the two finalists. With a 4-team playoff, the SEC Champ would play 15 games (12+1+2).

It's nice to see a KY football fan looking at the big picture. I have met a lot of KY fans who are against any football playoff, and their reasoning is simply that they fear it would eventually, down the road, mean the end of bowl games and the end of their postseason.

I keep hearing aruguments like this and it's basically a strawman. Some bowls might go away, yes, but the bowls in general will still be around.

It might mean some 6-6 teams don't get bowl games, but I already don't think they deserve one.

Yahoo's Dan Wetzel again exposes the Bowl system and the BCS for what it is.
It's insane for the schools to keep lining these guys' pockets like this. LSU had to pay more than $180,000 for its Band to attend the title game and then put on a free halftime show. That's just one of the gems in Wetzel's column.

Bowls' extravagant revenues are closely examined as the NCAA mulls a playoff system - Yahoo! Sports

dont get all caught up is Wetzel's media blitz. He's like Travis and Finbaum - there to cause controversy so you'll talk about them and buy their product.

YOU might not think they deserve one but how about asking the conferences if they should go. Why not ask a school president or an Athletic Director if they should go. What about asking a player if he was on a 6-6 team, should he go to a bowl game. Unless you're writing the checks, it doesnt matter what you think.

Yes, I'm so happy they added a regular season game so teams could schedule a patsy to get that 6th win, whereas in the 11 game season they'd be 5-6 and sitting at home.

Thank the heavens we have a GoDaddy.com Bowl; college football just wouldn't be the same without it.

Great point, man. As if everything Wetzel says about bowls isn't true. You are free to disagree with his opinion (and mine), but I challenge you to disprove any fact that he has laid out.

When it comes to arguing in favor of bowls and against a playoff, you established yourself as King Nonsense a long time ago.

Another great point. I think we, as a society, should end all public debate and comment. If we're not on the Board and thus don't have decision-making powers, our opinions mean nothing.

And, technically, we are writing checks. We spend money on these games, and some of us donate large sums to school ADs. Then, these ADs get fleeced by the postseason games they play in.

Just let him stay a dinosaur.
