He is a natural at story telling. (just like Gus Manning). It is one of those Scotch-Irish Southern Appalachia traits that a lot of the older folks endure.

I still think Fulmer was a better coach, but I always thought he was sort of a boring interview.

Best Post-game show ever was after Notre Dame victory.
He was banging the Leprechaun stick on the desk..... and may have had a nip before the show.

Are there any Johnny Majors impersonators out there? Heard Tebow do a pretty good Spurrier the other day. There's a comedian who does a John Madden that cracks me up every time.

This is why I loved college football. There was always a little character in the SEC coaches. Now it seems only Spurrier is carrying on that tradition and i guess miles to a degree. Too many of the coaches today are dull and drab during pressers.

I would purchase a copy of that in a NY minute IF they would let 'the best of Johnny' out of the VOL VAULT. They never will of course as he was a bit lit up for that show. A classic only to be relived in our memories. :hi:

Johnny was one of the last CEO type coaches. Though I was ready for Fulmer to take over when he did just as I was long ready for Fulmer to be gone, I often thought Johnny didn't actually run the program rather it was the assistant coaches. Heck, sometimes it seemed he didn't even know what was going on.
