Am I a bad person?

When it comes to bowls, I will pull for any SEC team. Why? Because when it comes to BCS consideration next year it is important. If all the SEC teams lose, that makes the entire conference look weak. Therefore when it comes to our players winning awards(Eric Berry), their hype falls because the rest of the country looks at the SEC as weak. Also, when it comes to BCS bowls and playing for NCs, it is extremely important. Do you think LSU would have played for the NC last year with 2 loses if they played in the ACC or Big East? It was the national recognition that the SEC is the toughest conference. You don't get that by losing big games.

I can pull for any SEC team except 'bama. I saw women's gymnastics on Fox Sports South awhile back and I pulled against 'bama. I pulled for Florida against OSU a couple years ago. I did feel dirty for doing that, but I would rather see an SEC team win the NC than a bunch of idiots from Ohio win it.

SEC loyalty has nothing to do with my feelings. I have and always will pull against Bama, Florida, and UK. Living among the UK faithful has it's limits. I'm a bad, bad man.

Makes you a smart person in my book. Afterall you're a UT fan, doesn't make much sense to be pulling for bama. I really don't care that they're in the sec. Florida and bama are exceptions to that, i could care less if either win another game.

Even though I dislike all the other SEC teams, when it comes time for the bowl games my SEC pride seems to kick in and I wind up rooting for them against the out of conference foes....:p

All other football conferences want teams from their conference to win, when their favorite is out of it.

In the SEC, a lot of people go strictly against teams in their on conference. We realize that if they win it will help things like recruiting, over all funding, and positive press coverage. Even when your favorite is out of it, you can still cheer against the SEC in the hopes that it helps your team in the future.

Mostly, however, you can confidently pull for other conferences against the SEC, because you don't want hear it.

Alabama fan: Haha, we beat you.

Tennessee fan: Dude, you lost to Utah and you're still talking?

I would never and have never rooted for Bama, Florida, Georgia, or Vandy. I hope they all lose.

If I'm pulling for Utah to beat Alabama? I know I am supposed to go for the "conference" and I will, just not Bama. I could honestly care less that they represent the SEC, I will NEVER wish Alabama the best.

I'm for UT....and whoever is playing Alabama or Florida....

Rooting for cenference teams is highly overrated...Sorry but I never and I mean NEVER root for UF or Alabama for any reason...I am wishing horrible nasty defeats on both of them by whom ever they play...Sorry but I am not embarrassed for the SEC if one or both of them loses...I hope Utah and Oklahoma blow both of them out...They probably won´t but You can always hope...When Nebraska blew out UF in 95 I sat on the couch laughing my tail off :)

Boomer Sooner. Go Utah.

I have no desire or inclination to be an SEC homer purely for the sake of homerism.

I will only root for Tennesse. I'm proud to be in the SEC, but I won't cheer for anyone else ever. I think that is what sets us (the SEC) apart from other conferences is that we will eat our own. It's Vols or nothing baby!

Since UT needs to recruit nationally it helps the VOLS in prestige and recognition for the SEC to show that they are the best conference in the country. Even though we're aren't bowling this year if Florida wins the MNC it helps UT. Players see that to play against the best helps their NFL chances. If the Gators win, it also gives the conference that respect that could help Tennessee in the future.... a la LSU with 2 losses last year. Look at what happened to Penn State, after 1 very close loss they were out of the MNC picture with NO way to get back into it. The SEC gets the benefit of the doubt because of the perceived strength of our conference. So in the end I want Florida to represent and kick Zero U's teeth in. :salute:

With all of that said....If the tide had won the SEC....I.....I........I.........wouldn't want them to win the MNC........I just couldn't...

I'll always pull for SEC teams in non conference or bowl games. I have pride in the conference that we play in, because it's the best conference in the nation, so I will never wish a loss upon an SEC team, as long as they are playing a NON SEC team.

I had this discussion regarding Florida in their last Championship game. I side with those who believe that success of your biggest rivals hurts you. We are certainly in a lot more recruiting battles with Florida and Alabama than with Utah. The more they win, and the more championships they win, the more ammunition their coaches have in pulling recruits their way.

Bottom line: the SEC is a football powerhouse. Fans and players all know that. We don't need bowl victories to justify that. And, we certainly don't need Alabama and Florida increasing their bragging rights in the South.

Nah you are not bad. Who doesn't like to knock on Bama fans? There is a better way to knock on Bama than rooting for Utah.

This year I learned that most Bama fans are pretty new bandwagon types. Especially since Saban got there. They think that UT is their rival instead of Auburn. Anyways, it gets them more angry when you tell them that Florida is our #1 rival and that we don't really care about Bama that much. I usually admit that they are bound to have a good season every now and that kind of gets our attention but the so called rivalry lost it's magic after beating them 7 years in a row.

Remind them that their QB is gone now and it's just a matter of time before their coach is gone too. This was their season and they blew it. Just like they blew it in 99 when they lost to UT at home and ruined their National Title hopes that year. Most Bama fans don't even remember their 99 season.

:)

Personally, I like to pull for Any team that beats us. So that the next time that Florida or Alabama take a pounding it will be from UT and no one else. Too bad one had to lose to the other... otherwise we could have beat em both.
