ASU as a 2 seed is the highest seed TN seed has beaten in the NCAA T since 2008 and LSU. Maybe we like the underdog role?

While Arizona State's style plays to our advantage generally, I must say we just beat a team that has been absolutely elite throughout the season.
Excited and think we have a good shot at running with Ohio state

Excellent game plan, focus, execution, effort, balance, and LadyVol_Hoops are moving on. Might have been best game of the year

A major congrats to UT. After having that dreadful regular season, to pull off a 4th quarter comeback against a good Green Bay team and then win handily at the Pac-12 champions, major props to everyone tonight, Holly included.

DeShields was great, she played under control and made some big plays down the stretch. She looked like an All-American tonight. Nared is another player who really stuck out to me tonight. She made hustle plays and quietly had a very good game. The posts were also very good. Russell was huge in the 1st half, and Graves was a monster inside during the 2nd half. IMO this is the most satisfying tournament win since the 2008 season. I hope tonight's victory help makes up for some of the hardships faced throughout the season. Next up, Ohio State!

Actually, Ohio State could be an easier game than ASU. OSU was lucky to win today. WVU turned the ball over 27 times, resulting in 40 OSU points-- almost half their total. WVU outrebounded OSU and was more effective in the paint. If the LVs continue to limit turnovers and stop the dribble dribble (especially Carter), they should win and advance to the Elite Eight.

Tennessee matches up better against teams that are better defensively than offensively. Arizona State is pretty garbage offensively for a #2 seed, scoring 69 points or fewer in 27 or their 33 games. Stopping Kelsey Mitchell should prove to be difficult. Hart/Cooper are also good offensive options, as is Alston if she is healthy. If Tennessee can shut down Mitchell (keep her to under 20 points, minimal FTs and under 40% shooting), I think Tennessee will win. Easier said than done--in her last 5 games, Mitchell has put up 48, 43, 20, 27 and 45.

Yes, stopping Mitchell will be key. She'll definitely put up points. But she scored a lot of those 45 points today off WVU TOs and FTs. She wasn't unstoppable; WVU was just unbelievably sloppy. It's amazing they were only down four with minutes to play.

WVU held OSU to 37% shooting today. If the LVs can do that and limit OSU's 3s, while keeping our TOs in check and continuing to pass the ball, I like our chances. ASU was overrated, but OSU could be a bit overrated, too. I was hoping for WVU.

First, a huge congrats to this team on an impressive performance.

You can't live on what could've been, but had they played every game this year with that intensity and attention to detail, we'd be looking at 31-4 or better right now.

I've been hard on the coaches and a few players this year, but if they can keep this up for the next two games, we might be looking at the first final 4 since '08. If that happens I'll eat my words and apologize to Warlick and staff.

Great game plan by the coaches, and a great game played by the players. Cooper was out of control tonight, though.

Graves 11 rebounds in 24 minutes.

Getting back to the Sweet 16 after this year is a good showing for this team. I think their spot as the 7 seed was a good place to start from, although this is probably the most talented and athletic 7 seed in tournament history. Will be rooting for them to survive Ohio State and earn a rematch against the SEC champs.

But, then OSU hasn't faced a team like Tennessee...and its not how good Mitchell has been...its how good Tennessee's defense is playing now and how well DeShields controls the game:lolabove:...DD may be the story of the game not Mitchell. Also, Russell has finally decided to play like the Number 1 HS player in the nation when recruited...It should be a good game, but the Lady Vols are on a mission and OSU is the next hurdle in the quest.

Oh what could have been... Congrats to the Ladies. I never would have thought they would make the sweet 16.

++++++++++

To not make it to the round of 16 would have been a completion of failure for this staff and these nationally assessed players....Winning and advancing now, will erase much of the doubt that is only now beginning to subside.

I will keep it real i`m no fan of Cooper and you are 100% correct she was out of control, And was no show on the defensive in Davis drove right by her at will. I could be wrong but to me she is trying to carry this team when she don`t need to. That same spin move in the post and toss the ball up at the basket has hurt her and the team at times. But hey we won the game and it was a big one.

I was amazed at several things. First, the aggressiveness Russell displayed was very encouraging. They played really well in front of a hostile ASU home crowd and the lady Vols did a great job of keeping their composure. Congrats to holly and the team. I think they have a great shot at taking down OSU. I'm hoping Syracuse can somehow take care of south carolina..

and they don't even get to play ASU without Cooper in the previous game. She wasn't good last night but she is a big piece of the future.

Oh, ye, of little faith...:)

GO LADY VOLS!

This is the way the team should have played all year long. We do have 7 5 stars. Playing like they are playing now is what gives you faith. They seem to have the passion they had developed in the 3 game winning streak prior to the dribble, dribble, take the air out of the ball, and throw it inside. That is nothing but a turnover offensive plan. Let us hope that Holly has learn and she continues with a game winning plan. That is what will create faith and stop program pessimistic ideaology.

Cooper is one of those players that you unleash, or reel in... there is no cruise-control
