Amazon Fire Stick vs Roku

We've always had Roku's on our tv's but the one in my Vol Cave crapped out on me last night. Is there much of a difference between the two? I just missed the Amazon special today on a Firestick for $12...Any tips?

Got one! Arrived today! Wife is a Roku devotee, but I assured her we can use both throughout the house. First time she uses Alexa to find a show she’ll be a convert.

Really suggest an upgrade to the fire TV at least. The firestick is serviceable, but really limited.

Agreed. Roku Ultra is much better than the stick. It’s the same with the Amazon. Have had the stick. If I get another it’ll be the full amazon Tv.

Yeah mine worked great and quick for about 6 months and then it very quickly went south. Super slow input lag and super slow to change apps - just like an old computer. Not enough engine in the little sticks. The bigger units are worth it though. My roku Ultra is awesome I imagine the fire tv unit would be good too.

So got a fire stick on prime day just to realize it doesn't have the YOUTUBE TV app. That was an hour out of my evening to figure that work around. I guess its coming later this year but cmon wtf amazon.

Its actually not illegal to jail break them. And it's also super easy. After about 20 minutes of videos on youtube I can pretty much watch anything.
