Ball vs. Richardson---3* vs 5*

"Statistically, it’s not even close.
Ball has averaged 6.54 yards per carry with 1,622 yards on 248 attempts. Richardson has averaged 6.02 yards per carry with 1,583 yards on 263 attempts. Richardson has caught 27 passes for 327 yards and three scores, and Ball has caught 17 passes for 248 yards and five scores. For the season, Ball has 34 touchdowns to Richardson’s 23 and has been the model of consistency with two touchdowns or more in every game, including the losses to Michigan State and Ohio State. Richardson caught a scoring pass against Arkansas and didn’t score against LSU."

From a stats standpoint, sure, but a few things:

- Played out argument but still holds true, Ball doesn't play in the SEC. The Big Ten isn't devoid of defenses, and has some decent ones but isn't in the same ball park as the defenses Bama has faced this season.
- Ball has a legit quarterback to keep opposing defenses honest. Richardson is the only real offensive threat for Bama, everyone knows it and he still gets it done.
- Bielema is the king of running it up on patsies.

Disagree on the Bama is one dimensional. They rank 74 in passing offense while Wisc ranks 63rd. (214ypg vs 230 ypg). Rushing Wisc is 10th vs 15th for Bama.

Wisconsin doesn't throw the ball much, but Russell Wilson is one of the best QB's in the country this season. He's 2nd nationally in yards/attempt, 5th in completion% and 9th in TDs.

Not that AJ McCarron isn't having a decent season, but I don't think he's nearly the passing threat Wilson is.

He may not be, but Alabama's WRs are also a lot, lot more scary than Wisconsin's.

I'm asking because I don't feel like looking it up:

What have Ball's backups done this year? Richardson splits carries with two other backs that would be starting on most other teams.

As far as Defenses, the SEC has Bama, LSU and the rest are equal with the top half of the Big Ten.

Bama and LSU are special.

I agree with the rest of your points.

Richardson deserves this Heisman in my opinion.

cant remember the name of the kid, but Balls backup is not bad. He spent a lot of time in the MSU game because ball was hurt.

It's the same. Not sure why you're asking because the carries are listed right there in the OP, Richardson has more... Anyways:

T. Richardson - 1583
E. Lacey - 631
J. Fowler - 385

M. Ball - 1622
J. White - 683
R. Wilson - 325

Even with Montee Ball, I can't be the only one who's always infuriated that Wisconsin doesn't throw the ball more. You have Russell freaking Wilson at quarterback!
