...as part of the student rewards program.

Big Orange Fans!

For those of you who plan on attending the men's basketball game tomorrow against Gonzaga, below is a portion of tomorrow's student scorecard that will be available at the game.

THE DIRT

#42 Josh Heytvelt was arrested in 2007 when he and another former Zag's player were caught with marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms in their car. Try yelling "Ganjaga or Got the Munchies??!"

#2 Jeremy Pargo is the younger brother of former NBA player Jannero Pargo who just signed a $3.8 million one-year contract with Dynamo Moscow.

#22 Michah Downs transferred from Kansas in 2006 after one semester because he missed home. He could have been a National Champ!

#50 Ira Brown is a 26-year old senior who played five seasons of minor league baseball.

In honor of Gonzaga's star player Josh Heytvelt's actions, we are offering an extra point to all Student Rewards members that wear Tie-Dye to the game. To receive the extra point make sure to stop by our rewards table located next to the student gate on the concourse and scan your Student ID before 8:45pm. Thanks for your help and support of Tennessee Basketball!

Also, two concession stands on the concourse by the student seating area will be equipped to take your All Star Card for the remainder of the season!

See you at the BIG GAME & GO TENNESSEE!!!

Now I know this kind of stuff gets out to all the students at college basketball games.

what's so funny or bad about having a brother playing overseas pro ball? Even worse, why would you make fun of someone who was good enough to play five seasons of pro baseball and still be good enough to play college basketball?

Could we get the sound guy to cue up 'Smoke it to the East, and I smoke it to the West' every time Heyt touches the ball?

FYI, in the Heytvelt arrest, it was teammate Theo Davis who was caught with the marijuana (extinguished in his pocket).

Heytvelt was the one who had the mushrooms found in his gym bag in the back, so all the pothead/smoke out chants really are off base.

And yeah, really anything you can find on wikipedia I'm not even sure qualifies as digging up dirt, and students have been singing the same sad song at Josh for almost 2 years now, no way in the world it will affect his game at this point, but to each student section their own.

You know what's worse than UT sending an email to all the students to try to get them to chant stuff and make fun of opponent players by giving them 'dirt'?

A Zag fan coming onto a UT board, into a thread where UT fans are making fun of the retarded email, and trying to defend the punk and call the chants off base. Nice. Fairly sure no one was supporting the email.

Apologies, rereading my comments I can see how they came off snarky. In no way was I intending to attack anyone on this board. I guess I just tire of individuals gleefully attacking a "punk," who is a kind and considerate individual and a loving father btw, gleefully for something that for all intents and purposes is long gone history and for which he has apologized, repented, and paid for. It's not new or special, and gimmicks like rewarding students for wearing tie dye to games just grinds my gears. I'm sure you all feel just as protective of the young men who wear your school's colors and name across the chest.

Once again, mea culpa.

I don't have a problem with that. But, this thread was meant to mock the exact idea you hate... students doing that crap. Its unoriginal and no one here supports it (except maybe that Memphis Tiger fan... but he may just be joking as Mphsblues was).

Damn, that's incredibly lame.

This, along with the newspaper gimmick during the visiting team's introductions that dates back to Phog Allen or Hank Iba, is the best we can do? Wow. What, exactly, is wrong with just making a ton of noise and letting the Vols feel the energy in the room?

I saw that done to him so many times last year. I would imagine it doesn't even phase him anymore.

And how mad were we when Duke (I think it was them) gave crap to Alexis Hornbuckle for the walmart shoplifting.

IMO, it's lame. As CD said, chant defense and something to motivate our team.
