Yesterday was one of the most victorious days for Tennessee athletics I can remember:

Men's Basketball takes revenge on Vandy in front of a huge crowd to likely take 2nd in the conference

Women's basketball moves past S. Carolina to go the finals of the SEC Tournament

Baseball knocks off Texas 5-4 in a the Astro's ballpark.

Softball blanks Memphis 7-0 and ETSU 8-0

And I have to add (since I used to play with these guys) Tennessee Rugby beat Kentucky 91-3. Since starting SEC play this year, they have also beaten Bama 56-0, Florida 20-12, Vandy 61-3, S. Carolina 71-7. and are currently undefeated in the SEC.

I am just so happy.

While we are at it, the Bass Fishing Team had a solid day on Guntersville from the reports I've gotten so far.

It was a GREAT day to be a VOL. Cool that you played on the rugby team. I had some good friends on the team back in the day. I was on the soccer team and we used to have to share the Fulton Bottoms w/ you guys for practice.

^No seriously. My buddy had a limit and a 12 and some change pound bag yesterday. Don't know where that stands in the tournament or how our other boats did yet though.

Not to be negative, but on Guntersville that is normally an average bag, depending on conditions though. How many teams were in it?

Congrats on the big win yesterday. If we take care of Florida today, we could be set up to meet in the SECCG. That would be a blast.

A 12 lb bag on this lake at this time of year is not very good, but the cold front might of given them lock jaw.

Does UT have good history in rugby or is UT having a huge year?

The Rugby program has been very good over the last ten years. Though not an NCAA sport, collegiate rugby is run by USA Rugby, which fields the world cup team, so there is a very well organized national collegiate rugby scene, with a best of 16 playoff to determine the national championship every year. UT made that round of 16 every year between 2003-2010.

And there are several programs (Cal, Navy, Army) where rugby is a varsity level sport, which obviously gives quite an advantage when playing against programs that don't offer scholarships (like UT). That makes Tennessee's wins over both Navy and Army in recent years even more impressive.

Do you people like football? Football started as an offshoot of rugby. the Rugby world cup is the second most watched event in the world behind the soccer world cup. A little more of a sport than marbles and fishing, friends.

I dunno, that marbles thing had me all interested.
