And now it's on like popcone(sp): Iran warns Saudis

Do you honestly think the US would stand on the sidelines if a war between Saudi and Iran broke out?

We have WAY too much of a vested interest in the Middle East, and not enough vested interest on our own soil, in regards to oil and other things. It's time to come home and take care of our own energy issues, and let those people fight, because no matter how many troops we have over there, it's not going to curtail it anytime soon. They have been waging wars against each other, since way before we were even a nation. Time for us to step aside.

Ras,

I can guarantee you if conscription were required to protect the land under Saudi feet, there would be NO doubt they would conscript every 18 - 60 year old required and put boots in the sand.

Who would be instating a draft... the Saudis or Americans? It's not clear in your post who "they" are?

If for any reason we felt the oil supplies under the Saudi sand were not ostensibly under US control, we would do whatever it took militarily to ensure it was back under our control.

If that meant conscripting every man, woman, and child aged 18 - 60, it would be done without question or hesitation.

Yet another convenient reason to exit the ME. Now that Osama is dead, we can let The Saudis and the Iranians battle to the death while they drag everyone else around them in it... it will most certainly tear Iraq apart into its different factions.

The job is done. Keep the troops for a few months till the hoopla dies down, and bring them back. Afghanistan isn't the most solid place, but it's still got it's feet under them.
