Not sure if this has been discussed here yet. Andy Katz blog, John Calipari not buying Kentucky as SEC favorites - men's college basketball - ESPN , talks about SEC media days and how the press picked UK to finish first. But there was this nice little paragraph towards the end.

Florida has a trio of experienced players in Kenny Boynton, Patric Young and Erik Murphy. Missouri has the preseason player of the year in Phil Pressey and another all-star candidate in Michael Dixon Jr., as well as high-profile transfers. The Vols have one of the strongest big men in Jarnell Stokes and a rising stud in Trae Golden.

Yup. I'll stick with my original picks. I got it as...1) Mizzou, 2) Florida, 3)Kentucky, 4)Tennessee. Giving Kentucky the benefit of the doubt but I think Tennessee and Kentucky can flip flop the 3 and 4.

I haven't had a chance to look at every teams conference schedule but that 4th spot is probably going to be about who got a favorable schedule more than who's actually the better team. Just off the top of my head I wouldn't be surprised to see Ark, Bama, or Ole Miss snag a top 4 seed. Any decent team that plays the fewest games against UK, UF, Mizzou and UT, has a huge advantage over teams that may have to play multiple teams out of that top tier twice.

If I remember right Mizzou got the toughest schedule out of the top 4.

Missouri plays Florida, Arkansas, Ole Miss, LSU, and South Carolina twice.

Florida plays Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Georgia, and Mississippi State twice.

I think Florida got a tougher draw. I'm not complaining, though... It's good for tourney seeding.

Missouri is over rated. They are 4th best in the SEC, but Phil Pressey is average. He had two scoring machines padding his stats last season. He will dissapoint.

I think either UT or UF wins the SEC. UK is a bit unknown to me but i do know they arnt last season good.

Edit: this is all assuming Jeronne Maymon gets back to 100% before conference play. He is an absolute necessity if we wanna try and win the conference.

Uk will be good have u seen that all access? They have 3 legit 7 ' tall ballers

Legit? Wiljter is as soft as they come. Noel is defense and Clien has a lot of offense to develop on. No hate just going off what I seem at the blue and white scrimmage. It will take some time for them to come together. They will be good no doubt but nothing compared to the last two years.

Kyle "charmin" Wiltjer is a soft as a Bama fan hearing that Gruden is coming to UT (if you know what I mean lol). Stokes will make him his b!tch down low if he tries to go in the paint. Cauley-Stein (not clien lol) is their best big man. The kid is legit 7' and I heard he runs a 4.4 40 and played WR in college. Noel is a really really poor man's Davis. Liability on offense unless he is wide open for a dunk (where he'll get most of his points). Who is their back up pg? Walk on Polson? Lots of unknowns...

Cuonzo's record againist Flroida speaks for itself. They lost Beal we added Stokes (only played once againist them and not much) who else did they add, I don't know?

Mizzou I don't know much about so I won't comment...but with all of that said I like our Vols chances to win the SEC (if we have a healthy Maymon).

Edit: on my phone if any spelling mistakes.

If you've listened to Calipari, they could become a good team.
Right now, not much to write home about.
If you compare it to the hype coming out early last season, I get the impression this is going to be a very average team for KY.
This may be the season the " I'll take talent over experience" philosophy doesn't mesh for Cal.

Cauley-Stein is not better than Noel. He's not. Cauley was thought to be a two to three year project before Cal started his hype machine. He's an athletic seven footer, and he has solid speed (the 40 time is obviously a great exaggeration), but he's nowhere near as good as Noel defensively and is about as good offensively.

Wiltjer is soft... The only problem is that he won't be guarding Stokes, and Stokes won't be guarding him.

And Cuonzo's record against Florida speaks for itself? You mean based on two games? You'll need a little bigger of a sample size before you can judge that. We only play each other once, so head-to-head won't make that much of a difference this season. The game is at TBA, so that's an advantage for Tennessee.

Sorry, but saw the other day that your starting line-up would include Richardson, McBee and Hall. Maybe Hall is finally playing up to his ability (and he has it). But I see too many question marks at the 1-3. Yes, I love Trae and I've tooted his horn since before he arrived, but I don't think he has the quickness to play point in the SEC. And those other players simply are NOT SEC 1st string. I'm sure they will play hard, but a trod and plod team will not win the SEC.

Plenty of 1st string SEC talent on this team.
Wouldn't worry about the starting line up yet.
It will change quite a few times before conference play starts.
Trae will be fine.

You do realize hall is listed to start right now simply because 2nd team all-sec forward jeronne maymon will miss the first couple weeks right?

You may think he is overrated, but he is well above average. I agree that Missouri is likely a bit overrated, but it has more to do with their ****ty coach than talent.
