I cant understand why teams like Oakland, Green Bay, New Orleans, or even Kansas City arent lookin at Andy

His last year in college was 1991, so he'd have to be about 37 now.

37 isnt exactly spring chicken but I look at all the young qb back-ups, and Id rather have a savvy qb with some milage as a green kid who may never pan out.

I liked Andy Kelly, but he had foot speed issues at age 21, I can't imagine it's gotten better 15 years later.

and tended to put a lot of air under the ball...and he wasn't exactly scared to throw in to triple coverage either.....

but who cares...i still loved watching that guy play when he was at UT.

Andy Kelly's game in college was drop back, figure out whether Pickens or Harper was single covered and then flip it in their general direction and let them go get it. And if that wasn't there he'd just hit the safety valve.

It was so simple . . . yet it worked pretty well for him.

yeah, it did...i really did like Andy...still is one of my favorites of all time....his passes looked so good going thru the air.....and i loved the way he used to watch the ball in the air, peering over linemen, then back up, all the way to the receiver's hands...kind of like how a golfer looks at his approach shot from about 140 out...up, then down, up again, then down to make sure it lands where it's supposed to.

Andy may go down as the best QB in AFL history. He isnt the best QB in the league right now there are one or two ahead of him but he is an amazing player. He has had the best career of any QB ever in the league.

Andy Kelly is my all time favorite UT QB. That said, most of his success was tied to the guys wearing #s 15 and 81 at the time.

The great thing about Kelly though was that he understood that.

Fortunate, indeed, is the man who takes exactly the right measure of himself.

Indeed. Just think how powerful we'd be with our collective talent, if all had that attitude, appreciation of others' efforts, and less involvement of 'self.' We played collective football then, aka team ball, and we played very well like that.

Here's a little praise for a great UT quarterback:

He's earned this honor quite a few times before, as well.
Down here in Louisiana, Kelly became an instant hero after the amazing 2005 season he had for the VooDoo in New Orleans. The guy had 96 TD's last year and almost 4,700 yards. If you look at his career in the AFL, he's been pretty amazing.

Career
Completion %: 62.0
Total Passing Yds: 39642
TD's: 762
Int: 154
QB Rating: 104.15

Not bad.
