I had the pleasure of catching a show on Friday at the Valarium, and I will say this: Andy Wood is the "real deal." It's been quite awhile since I have been this amazed by a live guitar performance. You can certainly tell that he has studied the techniques of Vai, EVH, Satch, and Slash. If this guy doesn't eventually find himself amongst the greats, it will be a travesty. YouTube him, and prepare to be blown away.

Im bout to check him out. Valarium is a killer place to watch a show. I saw The Machine there. Me being an utterly huge Pink Floyd fan i was blown away. Loved every second of it.

I seen Andy and crew play years ago when Ray's was Kingston Alley...they played like a 5 song set that was killer...he is an amazing guitarist.

The thing is, there are guys like him everywhere, so if he never reaches the big time it wouldn't surprise me.

Still yet, he is one of the best I have ever seen.

Andy won Guitarmageddon with Guitar Center a few years ago. He won for the whole country. He's actually a good friend of mine. I used to book shows for them when Erick was their lead singer. Matt, Erick and Andy played my wedding reception.
Best part of the night was when Andy did Eruption to perfection.

Now that, my friend, is certainly a stretch.

Not really, I have met several guys that are as good as him.

Hell, a very good friend of mine from high school days was a budding genius, couldn't get away from the drugs.

You will never hear of him.

From what I saw, Eruption would be nothing but routine for him. Cool that he played your wedding...I understand that his original musical passion was the mandolin...would love to hear him play some bluegrass or acoustic stuff.

And, Gahlee, if you've met several guys "as good as him," I'm thoroughly impressed with your musical connections. I'm a guitarist, myself, and I don't know anyone who comes close.

Anyway, best of luck to a budding Knoxville talent.

I have seen him play once...heard some of his music, I'm not his biggest fan but I have seen enough to know he is great.

I have met a couple of guys who could hold their own with him.
