This is not a loss at all for Memphis. Good riddance. He was the kind of player that might get hot in one or two games and help you out, but mostly he was a liability. Anyone who saw the Kansas game could see that -- he was a disaster.
With that said, Memphis has a LONG way to go to being a competitive team outside C-USA. It's not just an issue of youth. Or the fact that they have no inside presence. They are a bunch of young guys who are trying to do it all themselves. They don't run set plays except on the first possession out of a time out. As much as it pains me to say it, Tennessee is MUCH further along than Memphis at this point in the season.
