Cameron Tatum has committed to Charlotte.

Ummm, he de-committed from Charlotte a long time ago. He has an offer from UTK and we are the school that he wants to go to. But, he does not have a qualifying test score yet. He took the test for the last time in May and he should be getting his results some time in June. It is not expected that he will get a qualifying score, if he does not then he is headed to prep school. However, if he manages a qualifying score he is going to committ to UTK.

You are correct. When I ran the search for Tatum on Hoopmasters, it pulled up only the old article. No news listed since September.

Just did and I saw absolutely nothing about it. You sure the story you are talking about is not old. Because if it says he is committing to Charlotte it is either very old or just happened likey yesterday or today. Plus, he hasnt qualified yet and there is no way he is going to committ before going to prep school. After a year in prep school he will have his choice of about any school in the nation.

The story is old that's what I was saying in my earlier post. Hoopmasters hasn't posted any news since September. However, they do list Tatum as uncommitted.

According to the scout article, he has committed to Tennessee and is just waiting for his test score. If he gets a qualifying score, he will sign.

No chance to qualify. He will, though, be a top 3 guard on our board for next year(Etwaun Moore, Manny Harris).

Thats what we are saying hvwarrior, apparently he has ALREADY committed. That is according to scout though and we know that is not always accurate. Although you say "no chance" it is a fact that he has not gotten his test score back and therefore however unlikely it is that he will qualify I wouldn't say no chance. But, I would say very, very little chance. If he is giving his committment for next year is Pearl going ahead and taking it? Therefore not waiting on Harris and Moore. That is the question I want one of these sites to answer.

Supposedly, he is trying to get the grades to be part of UT's '06 class, but as has been stated here, it is highly unlikely he will qualify. One analyst speculated that he may be trying to see if UT will go ahead and accept his commitment rather than wait to see what happens with Corperryale Harris and E'twaun Moore first. The word is that UT will accept his commitment IF he qualifies. If he does not qualify to play at UT for '06, which is likely, then that buys us more time to see what the other prospects do. I personally think he will be a great player - better than his rankings indicate - but it's hard to pass up on Moore or Harris, especially when we are so high on their lists. It's a good situation to be in, one that we are not used to, but if Bruce and Co. don't play their hand right, it could backfire. Just look what happened to Kentucky. :focus:

I will add that I have a suspicion that Tatum REALLY wants to come to UT, and he is trying to get on board before one of the other guard prospects commits and possibly takes his scholly.

I have read alot and seen vidoes of Moore, Harris, and Tatum and I think Tatum (although silly rankings say different) is a better player than either. He also has more of a ceiling then either of them. I think he wants to pledge for '07 then we should take him and not have to worry about what will happen with Moore and Harris.

He is trying to make it in for the 06' class. If he qualifies, CBP will honor the commit and take him. If not, he won't take it until Tatum shows that he is improving his grades. Again, he won't qualify and will be a top 3 guard priority, likely behind Moore and Harris.
