Hey Vols Nation. I am a NCSU Wolfpack Fan, and from what we here. Schaffer is almost 70/30 favor to NCSU. I just wanted to get some quikc information about him? Why he was in trouble.. If he has good pocket presecence, scrambler.. Where he went to High School?

Any info would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks and good luck this week

schaffer is more of a scrambler than an actual pocket passer. he has the potential to develop into a very good qb. the reason he got in trouble last year was because of an altercation between him and another student. he left tennessee because of ainge

It's tough to evaluate him because we have only seen him as a true freshman, so there's no way of knowing if he will progrss or not. He's a really good athlete with great speed and a good arm but questionable at best pocket presence. He also has some issues with competing, having transferred in both high school and in college. That being said, he will probably turn out to be a good QB for somebody if he lands in the right place with a coach who can finally get through to him.

And by the way . . . you are about the 5th school that I've heard that he is transferring to . . . . :D

I know. I guess it's between NCSU, UF, OLE MISS, UCF.

We'll see.. I wouldnt make any bets or anything but it could help our program having him in our offense.

No doubt he's a talent . . . just a matter of whether his head catches up to his body.

I live in raleigh and heard the same thing since he was on the final list with Amato on State when he signed with UT. NC qb situation sucks worst than UT They just have no choice but to stick with the same sucky guy and he is a senior. Amato has almost half his team from Florida it would not surprise me one bit to see him go where he can start right away.

If he ends up in the SEC defenses will put 8 guys in the box, with the safeties not even worried about he pass, and make them spy the QB. Schaffer has no pocket presecence, vision, accuracy, or decion making ability. He is a RB/WR who is dead-bent on playing QB even though it is by far not his best position. And, on top of that he is not too fond of that whole class thing associated with being in "school." He barely went to any of his classes when he was at UT. That started the discipline problems. The fight was just the icing on the cake.

that would make life here so much more peaceful. Our current QB Jay Davis is leading the conference in passing but he just doesnt make smart decisions sometimes. But he'll be gone this year and hopefully we can get BS in here. We will see..

If you do get him then good luck to ya. I hope you run the old school Nebraska option. Because anything else will not work with him at the QB position. Now, he would be one heck of a good WR, but that is another subject all together.

with a good qb coach, i'd bet you that he'll be a very good qb

so kinda like Ainge except he's a little better athlete

do you know for a fact that he "wasn't fond of that whole class thing"?

Just say you're mad cuz the kid wanted to play qb and when PF told him that he wasn't he decided to leave

If you all get Schaeffer, I think he could be a great qb.

I liked BS over Ainge, but that didn't work out. As GAVol said, he will develop into a great QB if he has the coach that kicks him (literally) in the right direction. go to UTSPORTS.COM and chek out some of his highlights in the video section from last year. You will like what you see. A little passing development and you got a great talent. His little wiley butt can run around the field like a freakin cockroach, but sometimes that all he seemed to want to do. He will be good.

i've heard Wisconsin offered him too and i hope he takes it because my brain and liver can't stand ANOTHER year of John Stocco under center. :banghead:

He was asked to leave for various reasons including getting out of bed at 4 am and instigating a fight, not attending or being late to class, not attending or showing up late to position meetings, not attending or showing up late to team meetings and functions, not putting effort into learning the playbook. Schaeffer was a sulky immature kid who wanted everything given to him.

He has very little pocket presence, decent arm, better legs. He is in the Vick mold with weaker passing game skills
