Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon indicted on perjury, theft charges -- baltimoresun.com

Baltimore Mayor Sheila A. Dixon was charged today by the state prosecutor in a 12-count indictment.

Dixon was charged with four counts of perjury and two counts of theft over $500, as well as theft under $500, fraudulent misappropriation by a fiduciary and misconduct in office. The charges stem in part from gifts she received from former boyfriend and developer Ronald H. Lipscomb, who was also charged earlier this week.

Dixon, a Democrat, has been the target of a nearly three-year probe by State Prosecutor Robert A. Rohrbaugh into corruption at City Hall, an investigation that has centered on allegations that Dixon has used her office to award lucrative contracts to various people including her sister, her then-boyfriend and her former campaign chairman.

naturally, she's claiming to be innocent.

I know there's corruption in both major parties, but what is it with the democrats lately? Jim McGreevey, Kwame Kilpatrick, Blago, Bill Richardson, Tim Mahoney, and so on.

Now that the democrats have taken power we will more than likely see more of these things coming up.

At least she wasn't caught in an airport bathroom or having cyber sex with an underage congressional aid.

Yea, I am sure the State Prosecutor started the investigation 3 years ago knowing full well he would be able to reign down when the democrats took control.

That isn't what I meant. I simply meant whoever is in charge, corruption usually follows.

I believe Democrat Gerry Studds was the one who liked underaged congressional pages, and Barney Frank ran the gay prostitution ring.

Nancy Pelosi comes from a Baltimore political family.

Baltimore has always been known for it's corruption, what is unusual is that someone has been caught.

I am pretty sure that the boy in question in the Foley case turned out to be of age. So, basically, the liberal media ousted him for being a homosexual...not for being a child predator.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

Two issues have emerged for Geithner in his confirmation: First, while working for the International Monetary Fund in the early 2000s, Geithner failed to fully pay his withholding taxes. Second, an immigrant who was working for Geithner during 2004-05 had her work authorization expire before she left Geithner's employment. Between 2001 and 2004, Geithner had to pay $50,000 in back taxes, according to Senate Republican aides involved in the investigation.
