It's been stressed numerous times on here that we need (and Pearl has even confirmed that he would like) another big man for the 2010 class. Several posters have said we're in the mix with a few bigs, and one even went as far as to say the guy we have interest in is committed elsewhere and he's the reason we backed off of Abraham. Does anyone know who he might be referring to (i.e. its not Cothron, though we're still in the mix for him the posters says)?

Well i would like to get one more big guy....around chisms size to bang around down low. Do you have a list of prospects were after?

if its not cothran or abrahms, and the person is committed but not signed, the only person I can think of is Adrien Payne(Mich St.). he is listed as a solid verbal. only chance he goes elsewhere I would say is if Izzo leaves, which is unlikely.

Payne's the one I was thinking of as well, considering we offered. He's the one I'd really like to get too. After last night's dunk competition he seemed pretty solid to UF, but I really like Patric Young, he's committed but not yet signed. 6'9" 230 and he's solid as a rock. The only other that really pops into mind that we actively recruited would be Pinkston. However, with Maymon coming in, and them being so similar in size and now hearing how he's being eaten up at McDonald's practice I'm not sure if we're going that hard after him.

Edit: Neither Prather nor Young has signed. Not that its of any consequence, because I don't see us pursuing Young anyway. But hey if he wants to go play for a team that's had top 5 talent the last 3 years and still hasn't managed to win a tourney game more power to him.

I remember another poster on TOS saying there is a kid committed/signed with a Big 12 school that isn't high on the school's situation and may be trying to get out of his LOI. He said it would be an absolutely huge pull if it were to happen. He said he would not say specifically who the kid is but he did shoot down alot of guesses except when people started guessing Perry Jones. Jones also fits the description closer than any of the other candidates. I'm guessing that Jones may be looking around because it has been rumored that Baylor's HC may be moving on as well. I seriously doubt that will happen, but it's nice to dream. Imagine pulling Jones, Harris, Selby, Golden, and McRae.

While we're at it, let's just go for Brandon Knight

Personally, I'd rather not land Knight. I've heard that kid is a special talent but he is also a ridiculously me-oriented player, too.

Possibly, but haven't we heard Selby could cause problems as well? There could be some problems, but there would also be a lot more talent on the roster.

I've heard about that but not the same level as Knight. I've heard that Knight will go through stretches where he will bring the ball down the court and take contested 3s before his offense is set up numerous times in a row instead of passing to wide open teammates.

Swampy...I really want UF to succeed in bball. I was mocked for saying they had Final Four talent when they beat Michigan State, and they proceeded to fall apart...Billy D has great talent coming in (even his guards in 2011 look amazing) but yeesh, the guy has taken great talent and sucked it up for a good while. Just lazy after the two National Titles?

I assume he'd be smarter about it when he has better teammates, but you do have a point. I really don't know what to expect from these guys, other than a lot of talent.

Based upon his last few PGs, sounds like Knight's a perfect fit for Calipari's "offense".

Look I don't like John Wall on principle but you can't say that he was one of those team cancer me first ball hogs he was just an arrogant head case. I know in the games I watched that there was always 3 or 4 times a game where he could have pushed the ball and gotten the transition basket but he would make the extra pass for the assist.

Yep. You can't equate High School basketball and to elite D1 ball, especially when comparing things like shot selection. 99% of top 50 recruits in each class average 20 or 30 something points per game by shooting the ball multiple times. (due to the fact that they might be the only talent on said team).

It might happen during the pre-conference schedule, but it shouldn't be something continuous that carries over.

Furthermore, if your willing to take a lesser talent that you can make yourself feel better about by labeling him a "solid 4 year player", then your cheating your team, IMO.

Obviously, there are certain exceptions that break every mold, Carruth, Legion, etc. But usually, you have to take those chances.

So, the 6.8 assists per game were by Wall were mere flukes?

Also, even though Evans played the point, he obviously is not a point guard. He was a scorer shifted to the PG position due to lack of production at that spot.

Unless I'm missing your point here, I'm not sure what your suggesting.

I thought Wall was a very unselfish player.

He was a great talent but clearly a freshman. He turned the ball over alot and would make some stupid plays, but hey everyone does it

Well we need Maymon to be a good player and hall to step and then we should be fine. Thats 4 deep on the front line. It could be better but well see how it goes.

I'm pretty sure we can rule out Young. He's probably about as sold and dedicated to Florida than Tobias is to Tennessee. I've been wanting Cothron for awhile now and knew the NC State stuff wouldn't last. Too bad it's not Vander Blue. That would be really nice!!!!
