I certainly have no problem with alternate uniforms....and I'm an old fogey, season ticket holder since the 80s, but I do have one question that I have no clue about.

Caveat---- I played baseball and basketball in high school, but not football. I know that the grey (gray) is a somewhat passive color, so I was just wondering....when the QB is looking downfield for receivers, especially on his checkdowns, and split seconds are of the utmost importance, is it just as easy to recognize the grey as it would be to recognize the white or bright orange shapes?? It seems that the passive grey might not 'jump out' to the QBs eyes as quick.

Any former QBs. or football players have any idea on this???

Again, I have no problem with uniforms...heck if we had orange polka dots on mauve , and we win the NC, I wouldn't care.

PLEASE PLEASE...don't make this thread about whether you like them or not...there's been a zillion of those already....i'm just asking a football question....

Thought we'd have to wait until games are played again to fix this pressing issue...thank you Santa :)

This is one of the reasons I like sticking with the white helmets. JMO. But, like you, I played basketball,so I don't know about how it actually looks on the field or if it makes a difference.

I played on the other side of the ball so I can't really say either. But, if it's an issue for us, just imagine what Boise State deals with wearing their blue jerseys on the blue turf.

Second time not so much.

I haven't played football since junior high, but logic tells me it doesn't make a difference. If it did, then wouldn't teams with green unis like Mich. St have trouble with their guys blending into the background?

Smokey Grey is 0-2. Needs to be eliminated.

I love the grey uniforms, I think wearing them a couple times a year is pretty cool and does give a little spark. But other than that, uniforms don't win games. I say wear them again, have some all black ones, even mix and match the pants and jerseys. Chrome helmets would look great too with power T. Loved Mississippi States golden ones last week.

What's our record over the past few years in any uniform?

Recruits seem to like them, I like them and so do most of the fans. What unis we wear doesn't really make that big of a difference in a game outcome.

I find it difficult to continue these conversations about the Smokey greys unis....If the recruits like I like because they are the ones that have a vote on this....NOT VOLNATION

Michigan State doesn't play against a green background at field level. Same reason Boise State persists with the blue field and blue unis.

These guys seem to like burning their retinas out:

GA Southern went into The Swamp with the most basic of basic cheap unis and beat the Gators.

UT doesn't need to be doing different unis 2x a year. UT needs it's high paid coaches to get these players ready to play and not wasting time with things that don't make a lick of difference. That's the cure all.
